I’ve just used my last seed and I want to be able to grow this strain year after year and unfortunately I can’t get any more seeds.
The plant from this last seed is already growing (seedling) so I’ll be cloning (?) this one to start the mother, and then this one will be transplanted outdoors to grow.
I have a spare Homebox Ambient R80S with a MojoCow PS1 T5 light in it.
Am I able to keep a small mother plant in this tent successfully without any further equipment?
If so:
how small of a pot can I use?
I do run living soil in the outdoor pots I grow in… but i dont think it matters as much what I use for the mother since I only need it for cuttings… right?
I have found (just my routine, hope you find yours) for mothers I do not keep it separate. I run the mother in the bed outdoor and then cut it fresh each august. If clones are done by august 1st (n hemi) there is enough time to retake them incase one does not root. It’s way easier than keeping a mother plant tamed and bug free on the side. I have kept my jilly bean going since 2007 this way and my durban going since 2008 this way. Then you can focus on keeping the clone Bansai in the winter to preserve the genetics. Rather than two separate grows during the summer indoor and out. Hope that makes sense.
I am returning to clones myself. A 5 gallon living soil is an easy holding pot. I let my new mothers get out of control since holding tent has flowering in it. I used to have a dedicated 32x32 for them. Top if get tall. Trim if get too thick. Take only good clones. Once I can get my mothers in the 3x3 I will top them down and scalp. They will reveg fast and go into a holding pattern with less light. Just what has worked for me. Ill run 200w max in holding tent. Probaly 150.
