Some minor light leaks on zipper

Hi I am checking my tent for leaks before the new tenants move in lol and I saw a few minor light leaks all able to be solved with some tape. Yet there are 3 of them that reside on the zipper but only when you look at it from a downward angle.

  1. How do I deal those?
  2. Should I even care?

I have tarps having around my grow area. I made myself a “room” with tarps and the tent is in that “room”

While absolute darkness is the ideal budding situation, you can still get a good harvest with tiny light leaks, I have. I can’t think of a single natural situation where you can achieve absolute dark and still have good light in the day yet plants don’t all go hermie from it.

I am a basic grower. I am getting great results doing as little as possible of advanced techniques tho I know I could get way better results using hydro, building better rooms etc. I keep it this way on purpose, to show new growers you can get good results then move up the knowledge chain from there.

I have some light blocking plastic sheeting, like @Matthew420 mentioned he has, for situations where I need to block light. It’s rolled up and tied and tacked to the ceiling until required.

I also tented my tents like @Matthew420 and @Hogmaster
I made a room out of 2mil thick plastic and put a zipper door in to gain access once main lights are out its super dark inside and @Stomper makes a good point in nature you’ll never have 100% black out in nature
The moon reflects quite a bit of light so I’m sure small light leaks will not effect your grow
I actually had a blue led on my tower fan that was light up 24/7 in my tent last grow I didn’t notice till just before harvest and had no ill effects on the harvest

I try to keep expenses and work time as low as possible while still getting crops that rival hydro growers. I can’t beat them but I get respectfully close. I think some folks are wired to try and know everything and prevent probs ahead of time or just want that perfect Grow.

With retail prices avg $200 per oz here my last harvest would have cost me $1,800 to buy. It cost me less than that by far to get the tent, light, seeds and ancillary supplies so this Grow cost me a bag of soil and lectricity. I learnt to clone (relearnt since I cloned in the 80s) and can now put up that same crop perpetually.

All the other stuff folks do is to go from great to insane. The question is where the point of diminishing returns hits. Living on a fixed income I only have the low cost options available.

@Stomper I’m not that guy. I just don’t want hermies

Tell me how to reduce/eliminate those chances and I’m good

For the zipper you can get some Velcro strips and make a flap to cover. It comes in peel and stick squares and you can use any dark opaque material for the flap.
