I need some advice. I got my replacement tent, and still decent amount of pin hole light leaks. I’m mostly concerned about the light coming from the 4" & 6" ports. What do you guys think, say screw it and fix the pin holes with some gaffers tape, or just get a completely different tent? I just don’t know how I would fix the light coming from the ports.
I think I see Orion’s Belt?
What are you growing?
Starting with White Widow Autos, but want to be able to switch up anytime
Ok light leaks will not matter at first with the autos, you won’t be too concerned until you run photos. But they look minimal you could tape it or even throw a dark sheet over it. I have even seen people use a sheet without any leaks just to filter out any pollen in the air.
Since its hard to take pictures of the light leaks, the best way I can describe the light coming from the cinched port flaps, is if you took a black t-shirt and shown a flashlight under it.
Right I hear ya, I am running photos right now so I have several of my ports completely open. I worry little about light leaks because I use black out curtains in that room so there is no outside light to concern me.
Read that flex seal works well on light leaks, I just cover my tent with a blanket.
Whoops I’m running autos
Are your pictures taken inside the dark tent with lights on in the room, or taken in a dark room with the grow light on in the tent? The reason I ask is because I learned after a lot of wasted work that just because the grow light can leak a bit of light out of the tent, it doesn’t necessarily mean that much lower light levels (unless your tent is in direct sunlight from a window) from the room will leak into the tent. The way to tell for sure is to have someone zip you up inside the tent, then have them turn on all the lights in the room and even shine a flashlight at the zippers and socks. Then you’ll know for sure.
@Cap_Ron thanks for the suggestion, I just assumed that if I could see light coming out, light would be going in. Sealed myself in tent and couldn’t see anything. Going to keep the tent and just add some gaffers tape to some of the seems. Might be a dumb question, but the circle ports, does it matter if you cinche them from the outside or inside?
Yeah, sometimes we don’t realize how powerful our grow lights are compared to our normal lighting. As far as the openings, when I grew photoperiods and was worried about light leaks I closed them up from the outside or inside but made sure they were both very tight. After I pull the cords to tighten them, I wrap the cord around the material and tuck it in so it stays tight.
