Light leaks in a new tent

I just bought a 4x8 tent and it hasn’t arrived yet. Lots of reviews. Of the negatives, most have to do with pinhole leaks and light coming thru the zippers. I understand the concern about photosensitive plants, but why strain so hard for 100% darkness? On a clear moonless night I can see well enough to walk around and with a full moon I can read 10 point type. Truely black nights sound more like a coal mine - or am I missing the whole point?

It has to do with the spectrum of the moon’s light, vs interior lighting. If you switched all your lighting to the greenish moon spectrum there’d be no worry about pinhole leaks.

My flowering tent has soooooo many pinhole light leaks (boooo for ipower tents). I’ve got it in the darkest corner of my basement, and have it timed so lights off corresponds to nighttime.

There’s also basically no measured intensity from moonlight, even on a clear night.

You could always just do a grow with it as it is out of the box and see if you have any problems.

That is, until you get one sensitive plant that goes hermie :disappointed_relieved:

Did you ever contact ipower about the pinholes? I did, for 2 tents, I received a canned response and zero follow up. Another email sent produced the same lack of customer service.

My tents are in a dark room so other than the light leaks out of the grow tent and under the door" If you sit in there outside of the tents you can see in about 5 mins" so inside the flower tent is fairly dark.
And I got my 4x4x80 ipower for $32 from the lost package(NPS) store so I love it

u make it sound like there r no real ‘savings’ buying the cheap ipower tent.! lol
battle on until u can replace it.!!

all the cheap look alike chit out there makes me sad.!

good equipment is worth every penny, a good light or fan or tent or filter might cost twice as much, but it will probably last 3 times as long and be easier to use.
not to mention the customer service if something does go wrong.!
i like to deal with places that have an address and phone number.!!!
