Feed as necessary to achieve and maintain a runoff ppm of 1.000. When you begin feeding depends on what soil you are using.
Its too early to worry about trimming. Re topping, Are these autos?

I see now that you are growing in FF Ocean Forest. You won’t have to feed for about 6 weeks from your last transplant. Start monitoring runoff PPM and begin feeding when it gets below 1000.
No, they’re feminized Apple Fritter. ILGM says they’ll grow to 4 1/2 feet.
I’m not sure if I know what runoff ppm means.
Height estimates are rarely accurate. It depnds far more on environment., veg time, etc…
PPM = Parts per Million. It is a measure of the nutrient concentration of a liquid. Runoff means catching the water that comes out of the bottom of the pot and testing it with a PPM meter. Apera and Bluelab both make good PPM meters. You may also see reference to TDS (total dissolved solids) and EC (electrical conductivity.) TDS, PPM, and EC are all the same thing, but just on differing scales. It doesn’t really matter which you use.
You won’t be able to water to runoff for a couple of weeks, as the plants aren’t big enough yet. It won’t matter because your soil has plenty of nutrients in it for another 5ish weeks, so you won’t have to worry about it until then. Never water more than the plant can absorb and dry out the soil in 2 to 4 days. These wet/dry cycles are important for plant health.
Okay. If photos, then topping is a good option. Top above the 4th real node when the plant gets that big. I top my plants 2 to 3 times depending on how the plant is doing.

The next 3 days are calling for rain, and with that, possibly high winds, so I assembled a part of my plant cages I bought last year around my Apple Fritter plants to help support them if winds get too strong.
I kept the plants tied to the center stakes for now, but put the cages up around them as well. I can take them up to six feet high if need be. (Last year’s harvest was only supposed to grow 6’, but they easily doubled that. Strong storms late in the season caused some damage.) We’ll see how this year’s plants go.

First, a question. What am I seeing on this fan leaf on APF2?
I topped off all three on my plants a week ago. Here’s the results.

I determined the problem I saw on my plants (1 leaf on each plant) to be thrips. As I wanted to remain organic, I used Captain Jack’s Deadbug Brew. Sprayed on upper and lower lsides of leaves. It seems to have done the trick, as I have seen no further spread of the spots.
Added an additional level of framing to my plants for support, but removed the stem supports.
It’s been 5 weeks since I transplanted into 2 gallon pots of FFOF soil, so I decided to finally add 3 grams of Bergmann’s Growtime Fertilizer to 2 gallons of water and split it between all three of my APF plants.
We’ll keep an eye on the progress and let you know how they do.
How often and when do you top after initial topping?
How restrictive is it to use 5 gallon fabric outdoors with the apple fritter ? I have 10 germinating now. Plan on starting with happy frog and going to FFOF.
I’m using 10 gallon fabric pots. Admittedly, I wasn’t sure if those would be big enough, as my previous in-ground plots, my strains, Big Bud (2022) and Bruce Banner (2023) both grew twice as tall as predicted. Apple Fritter is supposed to grow 4 1/2 - 5 feet tall.
So far, they seem to be doing good. Keep watching my journal as growth continues. I’ll keep it updated.

Bad storms and heavy winds came through last night, but I got lucky.
I had the foresight enough to put another group of crossmembers on my expandable tomato cages. I barely made it as the storm was coming in just as I finished.
I’m so glad I used fabric pots as they really allow the soil to not become waterlogged. Great drainage!!!
Im interested in seeing how your Apple Fritters turn out…Ive read good things on them…
Keep followomg my page. I’d love to have more folks reading my journal.
Following along. I have an apple fritter indoor at 4 weeks past flip. Will be interesting to see differences. Is yours from ilgm?
Yes. ILGM is the only company I’ve used.
Nutes and soil have been Fox Farm until this year. I’m giving Bergmann’s nutes a whirl this year.
Do you have a grow journal?
Knowledge speaks, wisdom listens.

@shonuff1460 I used Bergmans last indoor grow it worked great no issues, using it on a couple plants outdoors now I did use it last yr on outdoors but not at full strength, trying Lotus on the indoor soil plants to compare, they are in FFHF and just waiting for them to eat up whats in the soil to start feeding them.
P.S I only used Bergman’s at 80-85% strength, ppms where 850-900 and switched between phed water only and Nute feed next water time every 3 days IIRC Drench to drought. I am watching to see how this goes

I have mine on a journal. My AF came from dr blaze. This grow is first run using coco, jacks and autopots. Not sure how to add a link to journal, but here is most recent post.
I bought 10 feminized seeds at the end of winter.
I still have 7 left.
