Seeking experienced 600w led users

Have spent some tax return monies on bigger lights. Never used leds before aside from screw in bulbs for supplimental lighting. What is the “par for the course” with dimmable high output leds like say a california lightworks, SF or fluence type higher power leds…Ive seen large, small and seedlings all in one tent thriving…how does one accomplish this with the lights being literally 5 feet above? For reference i used to have my 600w kooltubes literally against plants in some instances. Just trying to understand the tech i just spent 3.5 k on any insight and help is awesome sauce and greatly appreciated!

I run three 200-W LED units in my tent. Currently have all 3 at 100%, roughly 6" above the plants.

What info are you seeking?

The older the plant say flowering they can be 12 inches below the light. When the small plant is in the same tent, it will also have enough light say 5ft above at 100%. I do it quite a bit start to start seedlings. Because if the small seedling are alone the 600 w light is set to 30" and at 50% power.

I think that is what you are asking.

Measure PPFD to manage lighting intensity. A flowering plant should get a minimum of 800 PPFD. Photone is a free app that can be used to measure PPFD.

I have 26 years of growing under hps and kooltubes, i understand PPFD and that is not what i was asking. Ed got what i was asking and i appreciate the insight@!

Photon density is photon density regardless of the source of lighting. The distance lighting is from a plant should be that necessary to achieve the minimum target PPFD level regardless of whether it is MH/HPS, LED, or the sun for that matter.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your grow.

Led are super efficient. With dimmers can do whatever you like. Veg from 40"wide open or drop to 10" over a seedling and dial it down. No heat issues like hps/mh. I run 3 200w in my 5x5. By the last few weeks of flower I am usually within 12". I do have very cool running lights but new bar lights run pretty cool with good footprints. Spend the dollars and think about new lights in 5-7 years is my suggestion.
