Light intensity?

Now that Im somewhat straight on where I am with the flowering stage, I have a question about my LED intensity. I have a 4x4 tent, 4 plants and 2-250 watt LED. The lights are about 18-20" from plants. Im currently running at 60% in the grow hub flower setting. Im trying to figure out if I should raise it a little or leave it be? According to all input, I probably have 2 weeks left before harvest. Thanks for any input.

Best method for setting lighting intensity is a meter or the smart phone app called PHOTONE. Set your PPFD around 800 or a DLI of 40-45 :love_you_gesture:

You likely won’t be able to overpower that tent with those two lights. You could however set them too close to the canopy. Does the manfacturer provide any guidance? PAR map for example?

I’m running a pretty powerful full spectrum 720w LED at 100% at 18" above the canopy without issue. Obviously, i monitored this heavily the first few runs…every strain is different and responds differently in each environment.

I too use photone and it rocks…it’s replaced my apogee sensors.

I have 600 watts in a 4x4, i’ve messed around with the height vs intensity to get the same dli/ppfd. I’ve had better yields and bud structure with a higher height and higher intensity. So i max my light intensity out and raise the lights until the “optimal” dli is achieved

I downloaded the photone and paid for the full spectrum LED. Really cool. Had to use a piece of paper as filter. My reading are:

top of highest Bud: 850 PAR, 41 DLI
Top of lowest: 570 PAR, 27 DLI

I raised my lights to the highest point and turned the intensity up to 82%, Should I raise a little more or see how they react?

I’m an old vet grow my own since 1974 use to grow outside it got a little hot around here too grow outside. So I got a tent 2x4 and light led type aglex 1200 watts. My lady’s are in flower my question is how high should I have my lights. Also welcome home brother.

Great all around tent size Grow Bro, I use 6this size with good success. What’s the wattage on the Anglex? I’ve never followed the manufacturer height settings, the smart phone app PHOTONE has worked well for me. Generally you’ll want 35 watts minimum of quality lighting per square foot of grow space…260 watts or more for the 2 x 4. Semper Fi Brother :love_you_gesture:

You can treat it like homework too, I have the photo tone app just to see the hype and found it not terrible but not perfect.

But here’s where you can go on the internet and find both the company ppfd data for set heights and other growers who posted their ppfd at set heights using a proper ppfd meter and compare.

These days I don’t even find we need a meter, so much ppfd data for each light is online it’s basically a free version of a ppfd meter. Something I liked that Mars hydro, Migrow and a few others posted to YouTube in the early led days which helped when setting ppfd amounts. The whole grid got mapped out at multiple heights and light strengths.

I also use this online free data to see which LEDs have the least hotspot and spread the light best, I don’t want a middle of 1123ppfd and sides at 600ppfd, I need more balanced figures.

For most lights working out your ppfd is now simple, if you find someone with a ppfd meter and your version of light they will also be able to give you accurate readings for your height from plant.

@Sefrayser I looked at your pictures on the other thread from 4 or 5 days ago. I think you might have more than 2 weeks left to go still. When you flip the lights you have about 2 weeks before flowering truly starts. Mj flowers for around 8 to 12 weeks from that point. Never be in a hurry to harvest. You want nearly ALL those white hairs to turn brown and recede back into the calyx’s then start checking trichomes for cloudy to amber depending on preference.

This is what I’m using, seems to be working great. Before I started my grow, we grew some veggies for the wife and they turned out great.

When in flower should I just the flower switch or both veg and flower switch

Both, more power, more light, more grow, maybe.

EBAY posting says"
The optimal suspension height is 20 “-24” (0.5M-0.6M), and the core coverage area is 3 * 4 feet (0.9 * 1.2M). It is more scientifically designed to be more energy efficient than hps and mh.
