Seed germinating

This will be my first attempt and i dont want to ruin expensive seeds . I keep getting conflicting reports on the glass of water method or the paper towel method. It seems 50/50. What do you guys do ?

A lot of people do it in different ways. Some water, some paper towel, and some (self included) just put a seed directly in the soil to do its thing. I’m not convinced that any particular method is any better than the others.

I soak mine for 10 hours in a shot glass with water and half a cap of 3% hydrogen peroxide, then rinse the seeds with plain water, and put them in a propagator with these small starter cubes called Easy Start by Royal Queen Seeds. I mist/spray the starter cubes 2 to 3 times a day. I use a heatmat also. Sprouts break ground in 3 to 4 days from soak usually.

I use paper towel but as @MidwestGuy saying it doesn’t matter

Shoot glass until it cracks, wet paper towel until 1/4" tail, then bury in coco. Usually 36-48hrs, then another 48-72hours to sprout. Good luck and happy growing!!!

I put mine in water on my closet shelf. After 2 to 3 days they crack open and get planted. Out of 12 seeds so far only one didnt grow.
I am 9 for 9 on ILGM seeds

I’m a first timer. I put mine in Solo shot glasses and kept them warm and wet, as soon as they sprouted I put them into their forever home. All seeds sprouted and are still going strong.

Ditto @Borderryan22 for me. I have about 98% sprout rate and I count the 2% to the seed itself.

If I’ve planted it, it has sprouted. I got some from crop keeng seeds a while back that 3 of 4 rotted. Cracked in paper towel and the insides were just goop. Then some blueberry autos that never rooted after planting but that was the whole batch.
