My seeds have been germinating for 72 hours and they only have cracked. No sign of a root/tail.
What method are you using?
Are you keeping them warm and moist but not hot and wet?
I’m doing them in a glass of water
And I would guess that the temp is about 70°
I have been reading that some people have suggested taking them out of the water and try the moist paper towel in ziplock bag method.
Sorry - real life…yeah I’d move to the paper towel and baggie at this point. I start there and have a better than 90% pop rate.
It’s all good and that’s exactly what I’m doing. I also moved them to a warmer part of the house. So I’m hoping this works because I want to get this grow going!! Thanks for getting back to me.
GOD BLESS
I ususlly lay mine on top of the cable box or CPU and they stay warm enough. i also leave a slight opening in the zipper for a little oxygen.
Actually I’ll give them overnight or 6-8 hours closed then crack it open a sliver.
Best of Luck to you!
After 72 hours you do want to get them out of the water, the root could drown if left too long.
If it was me, I’d save the step and go into the soil. They cracked, so, not duds.
Just as information, I have my 3rd set of 4 in solo cups in a dark cabinet at 70 F.
It seems to always take about 2.5 days to pop and get a 1/16" tail with this method for me. 7 strains represented in those 12 seeds.
Checked and my 3rd set are ready now. All 4 look like they popped yesterday so that’s 12 for 12 popping for me over the last 8 months. I’ve been very fortunate so it’s “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” for me.
I like the suggestion above for you to now go to the paper towel and baggie after 3 days of no success. Good luck!
I do the soak in shot glass with a couple of drops of hydrogen peroxide. When they crack I move them to a moist paper towel in a baggie (partially open) until they have a decent root.
I used to sprout citrus seeds as a kid with just a wet paper towel in a baggie.
I can sprout seeds but I suck at cloning.
I almost gave up on cloning but found a way that works awsome feel free to hit me up on your thread so we dont hijack this one if i can help id be happy to.
Im a newbie but Id have to agree wirh CurrDog and get them straight into soil. I use Hellraisers method of putting them in a glass of water for 24hrs and then straight into soil point up/down. I had 6/6 sprout this most recent time.
Ive had a couple stall out this way in the paper towel method too- cracked but no tap root appeared after waiting a couple days. At that point, all you can really do is put it in the soil and hope for the best. They both came up.
There’s plenty of good ways, I’ve tried a bunch, not sure if I have a favorite. I’ve had 100% germination success (seed cracked) in the paper towel. I’ve lost a couple in transfer to the soil though.
Really the point of pre germination is to weed out any duds. Many seed banks will replace any that don’t crack. Since they did crack, the guarantee is fulfilled.
In my opinion the paper towel is just an extra step at this point, and not without risk. Just wanted to offer my own anecdote and explain my logic to the OP.
Thanks for getting back to me again and for all the helpful information.
Thanks for info and that’s exactly what I did.
That’s a good track record so far, keep it going. I wrapped them in a moist paper towel and baggy, fingers are crossed
Thanks for the info and I took everyone’s suggestions, so fingers are crossed
Thanks for the info and I did exactly that, so fingers are crossed
