Scrug, new build, indoor, hydro, Lucas formula

Now I’m totally confused lol, I found a good link, but it talks about GH micro and bloom, I thought Lucas had its own nutes, and the “Lucas add back calculator wound be using its own nutes, not GH’s

Ok, my 60 gallon res is low, so I’m going to dump it tomorrow and use the suggestion on the site, then I will use the add back calculator when it gets low again, hopefully this novice can find something that will work down the home stretch as foxtailing usually occurs

That’s the Lucas formula, GH micro and GH bloom :+1:t2:

Fox tailing is normally due to over lighting towards end of flower.
I could be wrong, usually am :metal:t2::cowboy_hat_face:

That is what I’m hearing, I’m using @AfgVet ’s lighting schedule this run to see if that helps. In the past I had low watt cheap lights, never had a fox tailing issue, but always had popcorn buds also. Since upgrading to 400, 480 and 635 watt lights, fox tailing has occurred so I’m leaning to believe you re correct.
This run getting my umol’s down to where they should be, I’m hoping for some tightness in those sticky little jewels

This is my first run using Lucas Formula. I have been using GH for years. I am trying to get away from having plants looking so chlorotic by the time they finish. Thats the only issue I am trying to correct. I have been adding back full strength , change out res. Once weekly.

There is so much knowledge on this forum, and so many people willing/wanting to help, it’s overwhelming. I salute each and everyone of them. I think where I get lost, at least used to more then now, is the lingo. When I came on this forum originally, I was so lost and confused.
As I’ve learned the lingo, and understood more and more it comes easier. Still when some people talk about certain things, it’s like they have 20 PHD’s and only know one way to express it. Take lighting you can talk umol, DLI, etc, well to the novice, they walk away more confused then when they entered.

Having a water softener and sediment filter installed on my well this morning, wondering if that will effect my PH and/or PPM

I’m a grandpa too…didn’t your Grandpa grow weed ? Remember how big and bushy (and in comparison to todays weed…weak) Grandpas’ weed was ?

Oh yes, I remember one back in the seventies that was at least 7’ tall, and probably 4 or 5’ around. So bushy you couldn’t even see through it. Back then they didn’t know what we know now, but they still tried, just like our grand kids will look back at what we are doing and think, that was some weak stuff back then lol

Ok, read and reread the formula, question, if I add rootgaurd or any other additive, that will change the ppm correct? So adjusting for that is trail and error?

Yes it will change.
I just played around with adding extras at a minimum then cking total rez EC after a few hours of circulation.
Straight Lucas will grow nice plants so add with caution :metal:t2::green_heart:

I’m kinda concerned with your water softener  not sure why but I am

As always just checked my ph/ ppm and ppm was high, due to plants drinking more water then nutes, ppm was at 1380 ask I added 10 gallons of well water, ppm came down to 1020, and ph now at 5.82, I can live with those numbers.

I read something about a water softener on the formula but don’t remember what they said, it softens using rock salt, so if anything I would think my well water would be a little higher ppm naturally, but I will do more research on it

These are 3 weeks old yesterday. Lucas Formula +cal mag (every other week) + silica (this res. They have not tasted it yet) …greenest weed I’ve ever seen…

Happy Growing
