I have more than one strain and a few of my lady’s ad very sad. I have them in Fox farm ocean forest. they are a couple weeks old I spray when instead of pouring water on them I do not want to over water them, so I always check the soil before watering. I do take them outside for sunlight as they will be outdoor plants. Right now, they sit in windows for natural light. I hope I did not ruin my ladies somehow. Last year I grew clones this year they are all from seeds which makes me nervous that I did something wrong.
this one does not want to grow she is a cbd strain and since I transplanted them she hasn’t grown much.
So I do not know if I did something wrong I need help figuring this out. Is it overwatering underwatering do they need nutes ? Too much sun too much wind?
yes, they will be going outside once they are bigger, and it gets warmer. I do rotate them throughout the day as well as daily I move them with the sun. I do not spray the plant I only spray soil, and only when it is dry, in fear of over watering because that happened last year. I do not soak the soil, but I do give it a good spray so that I can see the water get soaked into the soil (if that makes sense) Should i pour water into the soil instead of spraying it?
They need better light. that is why they are stretching looking for light. Windows have uv protection, so not adequate for cannabis. Watch for pests while moving in and out. You don’t want them to make your ladies their home. Do you have any type of grow light?
@You could supplement window light with added lighting but be sure they get enough from the uv end of the spectrum to limit stretch. Certain blue (uv) light spectrum shortens node spacing. Your plants don’t look bad at all.
When planted in bigger pots, overwatering can be an issue. Water out 2” or so away from the stalk so the roots have to seek out the water and grow.
Ok I will figure out the added lighting part. As for the water I was spraying them close to the base then found on here that I should not do that, so I have since stopped and started spraying the outer area around the plant so about 2-3 finger length away from the base of them. I am not sure if I am under or overwatering them because I am only using the spray bottle and not pouring water in the pot. however, when I am watering them, they feel dry when put my finger into the pot to about my first knuckle down.
@oldmarine, @JaneQP@TheVirginian You guys helped me out last year with my clones any ideas for this new grow. I started from seed, on these ladies and I just noticed some discoloration.
The spots are because FFOF is really hot. It’s honestly a little too hot for starting seedlings. All mine burn up the to the first or second set of leaves. The top growth coming out of your plants looks ok. Those spots won’t go away either, and may progress some. Proper watering and better lighting will help some. Your girls are begging for more light, hence the stretch.
thank you, so I do not think I mentioned this up top but I used coast of Maine organic ocean something soil with the FFOF but not a solid mix of the two. Not all my ladies are spotted with the color change but after I gave them a good water today I noticed this color. I was in fear of overwatering and I think I was under watering. I currently am not using a light on them they are in the window and when the sun is out they are being rotated to get enough. I take them outside for full sun on nicer days but it is still a bit chilly here. any suggestions on light just to get these ladies ready for outside. also how much water would be best for them because I have learned spraying them at this stage isn’t the best.
And thank you, this is my first grow from seed and I am trying to learn what is the best ways/ ideas to help.
i starve mine a little when they’re little. i don’t water any sooner than 2 days even IF the soil looks dry and arid. They are a weed afterall and know how to self preserve. Even when watering, the ones in 1.5g pots or smaller only get 1/8th of a gallon (to runoff) and the 5g pots get 1/2g each. I have one in a 7g pot that gets 3/4g each (also til runoff). And then they wait again Agree with ryan that top half looks healthy green. They’re close to a transplant anyway so maybe some soil that’s a little less “hot” will help them jump again into more aggressive vegetation and lose the discoloring (any further progression). Best wishes in your grow!
Hi the problem with spraying the soil is that water is only going down so far it may not be reaching the roots properly use a shot glass to water ur plants that way u cant over water .give ur plants a shot glass of water each then wait two days and do it again you can even give them two shot glasses do one around the plant then do one out wider from the plant that will encourage the roots to go searching for water
Thank you, Ryan did give good advice I just have been a little cautious with this being my first seed grow. I am going to get some soil today that won’t be as harsh on my little ones. The lighting issue is because I’m using the natural light from the sun as they will be going outside so my brother who grew indoors is going to loan me a light to help these grow until the transplant.
do they need any type of nutrients? is there something I should add to the soil?
thank you I will be doing this starting tomorrow a shot glass is roughly what i gave them yesterday. I stopped spraying them and have been pouring on the outside like 2 inches away from the base so that the root can spread out and find the water. I just wanted to make sure i wasn’t starving them. With the droop I got nervous and then the discoloration as well.
Something I am trying. Once I saw roots, I put water in another solo. Then I put the solo with drainage in that. I let the plant suck up the water it needs and then let it drain for a few minutes.
