Qwet and Tcheck

I am not fully versed on all of this. I have only researched it, have not actually done it yet.

So far, as I understand it you would reduce the wash to nearly no ethanol remaining and post process to remove the remaining alcohol. Then dissolve the extract in a suitable solvent. For edibles I will use coconut oil as the solvent. I don’t know which solvents would be appropriate for what you are doing. @Caligurl or @Myfriendis410 may know. I believe that making a tincture involves alcohol by definition.

Cool, I really want to stay clear of edibles due to high sugar, if I make a drink infusion I have control of sugar by choosing a drink say like Ice with 0 sugar.

I have not heard oils being healthy, maybe coconut oil is ok

Edibles are not necessarily candy. I will do dark chocolate for sure but will likely make some savory edibles as well.

You can consume the extract directly as well. Just be mindful of dosing.

I do a full spectrum extract (24 hour soak) which leaves me with oil. I then weigh out and add to 190 proof ethanol so I know how much is in one eyedrop dripper. (around 40 mg times .75 gives me a dripper with 30 mg THC. That goes in a shot glass and orange juice is added. That’s our evening ritual. The amount of alcohol is miniscule.

If you make oil then want to dilute it, ethanol is probably your best bet. MCT oil can be used too but is harder to dissolve.

In a double boiler melt a stick of butter add your choosing of wax, say a gram. Stir til you see the wax is incorporated. Pour into a Tupperware container or a butter mold. Put in fridge then spread it on toast or cook with it.

I just watched a video Troy did on FB today using new system. I saw it on FB, not sure if it is elsewhere. Here is a screen shot of the page on FB. Pretty impressive, he did 600 ml in 40 mins, I can do 300 ml in about 3 hours in a ST. You will have a lab going :lab_coat: with your new toys.

Thanks for posting. I don’t use FB or IG (or any other social media) so there is a lot that I am missing. I knew that he has several social media “places”.

I can make 60-80 mg gummy bears that have very minimal sugar… it’s why we like them over anything else

How do you infuse it?

If you read to the top of my journal, I make qwet using 190 Everclear. I now use a Source Turbo to make the qwet but you can do it my original way but you lose the everclear to evap.

Ok, I got tire of waiting for alcohol to evaporate so put it in my decarboalator to evaporate with heat.

I am wondering if I do a qwet and then decaroxolate the wash and at same time evaparate the alcohol instead of decarboxolaring prior to doing the wash.

What you think? I was going to take whatever material is left and add water and mix in an emulsifier and call it good.

If you put the tincture in a shallow dish with a fan blowing on it, the evaporation will go much quicker.

I have never tried to decarb while still in alcohol form.

Yea I thought I deleted my post as I did not want anyone to blow themselves up. That 190 proof is like a flash bomb and it could blow under heat is what I read so I aborted.

Anyway I will just wait til it evaps on its own, in a dark cabinet room temp, probably be a couple weeks lol

Im not ready to do the still yet

Also, on my next try I will introduce alcohol to buds, lightly and gently swirl enough to make sure alcohol soaked buds, and wait one minute then pour and sift into new container.

The alcohol is merely a solvent and it immediately washes the cannabinoids on contact. Any additional shaking or soaking will result in a greener solution, more unwanted chlorophyll.

Also i will prep the buds for wash by neatly cutting from main stem and put into jar with minimal bud damage (last one i smashed the dry buds in the jar and got a pretty green solution). I believe a more intact bud will release less chlorophyll on contact with solvent.

I only want the cannabinoids, nothing else.

Cold solvent is a better way to preferentially extract the good stuff; leaving behind waxes, lipids and chlorophyll. All of which are nasty to dab.

Probably can’t decarb tincture as alcohol will boil at too low a temperature FYI.

Yea i also decided not to risk explosion.
I do freeze both jars prior, my fridge about -5 degrees.

Been doing reduction with a portable electric stove top for 5 years
As long as you have a fan and do it near an open window there is little risk of the vapor pooling in the air and igniting since the fan will disperse it
As long as there are no open flames
I have to process quickly because pets have to be kept behind closed doors
At most I’m reducing 1-2 cups of ethanol so it does not take long
Unless you are using a still most methods have the ethanol evaporating into the air, if you forget to vent problems can arise
Aside from igniting, walking into a closed room full of vaporized ethanol can be rough on the lungs
Always move the air but make sure you vent too
To decarb tincture you place it in a cool dark place and wait 3-4 MONTHS
It works and I made a great tincture
Process is not for everyone but I learned from one of the best, Psychadelic Sam

You could use MCT oil actually has some health benefits and no taste…
Infuse your concentrate with about a half cup of MCT oil and mix with what ever…
I use the levo machine to decarb and infuse my oil…
Works great..
