Easy or cheap? Easy is freezing your bud and alcohol then mixing, shaking, and using device like source turbo. But source turbo was around $600 last I knew.

You can allow alcohol to purge naturally or use other methods without buying source turbo or equivalent but cost of alcohol will eventually exceed cost of device that reclaims the alcohol.

The colder your product is and shorter the wash will create cleaner product. Washing longer will increase your yield but not be aa clean. There are varying different recommendations on this depending on what you’re looking for. @Myfriendis410 and @AfgVet can provide more info on this than I can.

Yes. Most will use 190 proof version of everclear.

Yeah thats what i used that and weed was in freezer since yesterday. Put together today and shook for 5 mins every 30 mins for about 2 hrs.. then strained it now the alchool is sitting in a bowl covered with cheese cloth with a fan blowing on it

It’s an acronym: Quick Wash Ethanol Tincture

Got to use 190 proof ethanol. You cannot use methanol or isopropyl FYI. As DBRN stated; cold short washes produce clear oil at about 90% pure THC. A longer wash will extract other cannabinoids along with waxes and chlorophyll. The latter is the one you really don’t want in your dab oil but with edibles you won’t really notice. Long wash QWET will be at around 70% THC. For edibles either the flower or the finished oil needs to be decarb’ed. The dab oil, no.

You can evaporate the alcohol rather than recovering it but like stated will get expensive in a hurry. There are still losses but a handle of Everclear will last me for 15 runs or so before needing more. (main loss is residual alcohol in the depleted plant material)

I have a Source Turbo and other than it’s limitation on the amount run, is an excellent machine. Using high %THC flower I usually extract around 5 grams of dab oil (with a long wash of that material to recover everything and yielding around 3 grams) and with fresh flower an edibles wash will produce 7 to 8 grams per ounce.

I’ve been doing my extractions at -5F rather than -40F simply because I’m lazy. Using dry ice will get you down to the really gucci stuff.

Soaking at -40F

I use cone coffee filters but a Buchner funnel and DE cake will make it even clearer

Wash is in the crucible

Closed up and running

The prettiest oil you ever saw: 5 grams of goodness.

Ok so this was my first time.. got a link for the machine?? And like i stated above it was all frozen and mixed for about 2 hours.. the liquid right now is a nice clear golden color. Just letting it evap now

This seems like a lot but I’m not really sure what everyone’s thoughts are. Like Myfriendis410 said, it kind of depends on your intended end use. Gold color sounds good.

I would look around some too before buying as I know there are alternatives. I’m just not sure where they all stack up against each other. There’s probably at least a few topics here.

The Source Turbo is a self contained unit that many folks really like. I have ordered a “component” system that functions like the Source Turbo. I ordered from Torr Kitchen.

Torr Kitchen will be shipping units in the next week or so. Ours will ship later in April due to the specific options that we ordered.

I was typing as you posted. LOL

Edit: The main reason that I got the component system rather than the self contained unit is that I will be processing from 2 - 4 liters per run.

Could i have just used my levo c machine?

Maybe, I am not sure how the Levo works. I have read many folks use it and like it.

Edit: Some devices are best for making oil infusions and others are best for QWET. I don’t have any personal experience just yet.

Edit: I tried my hand at making infused oil a couple of years ago and was not happy with the results. Thus, my going down the QWET rabbit hole.

I don’t think these are ideal for extraction. This looks more aligned with infusing oils and butter. Basically taking over the part where you’re mixing and shaking. But won’t evaporate like the alcohol will.

Be sure to have good ventilation so that you don’t get a build up of alcohol vaper which is flammable.
