From a fellow grower: Planted it tail side down in my expanded jiffy pellet that came in my Medium kit from Pot for Pot. I have been misting it day and night.
It popped a root looking bent into the soil on 9/25.
Now on 9/27 it has flown up like 1" high with 4 leaves. Please forgive me for this is my first time and I want to make sure not to kill it. But does it look ok?
It has been under a LED Grow light 36watt tubes about 1 foot away. Do I need to move it closer its stretching a lot maybe. I will attach photos and a photo of the environment it is in like the temp and humidity.
Plant looks good and healthy.
Just make sure not to over water that pellet. In other words let it dry out some. You want to make the roots search for water.
I would leave the light where it’s at. Others may feel different.
When you transplant it, you can burry the stem some to where it’s not sticking up so high.
Looks good! Idk about that bulb specifically but if it continues to stretch you could drop it a couple inches to counter that, and bury it to the cotyledons leaves (the little round ones) when its ready for transplants. And like mentioned before just go easy on the water, little amounts around the edge of the pellet to get the roots to fill out. Im just a beginner myself, but there are PLENTY of knowledgeable, experienced people here. Happy growing!
Wow thank you so much I bet I over mist it now that you guys say that. I’ll be sure to let it dry a bit more before misting.
Today it looks good but is it normal for the first rounded leaves to drop a bit? Maybe it is from me over watering?
If you want compact growth, go buy a T12 cool white fluorescent tube fixture and put the plant 1 inch below it. You seedling looks fine right now. You really do not need to mist it. Just don’t over water it.
The root plug looks extremely wet.
Purple stem verifies it may be too wet.
Droopy leaves also an indication it might be too wet. She really does look like she’s itching to grow. Let it dry out some and put a dome with holes over it and just mist the inside of the dome and you should be fine.
At this stage you really don’t have to water the plug because the seedling is getting food through the cotyledon leaves spraying the inside of a 2 liter bottle will provide all the moisture necessary to sustain growth.
Thank you so much for your response as it helps me a lot with my first baby
So for the dome suggestion do you possibly have a photo example of this curious so I don’t mess it up
Thank you so much for your knowledge I sure look forward to hopefully end paying $40 weekly for an eighth
Oh thank you so much those all look perfect I will definitely try this.
I would try to get the temp into the mid 70s. Seedlings like high humidity and warmer temps. Over all looks happy and healthy
The first round leaves will dry up and fall off as the actual leave begin to grow. Dont worry.

Oh thank you I am in Ohio it is getting chilly. I will move it inside.
Oh I had no idea Thank you for the heads up
Whew I am loving all the help that is for sure!!
Alright so I have stopped the over watering lol and I moved it inside since Ohio is getting too chilly.
It is super tall now with 4 leaves just want to make sure t looks ok. Any advice is very welcome. You guys seriously rock.
You really need a better light, what you are using is not going to cut it.
I have a 36watt tubes on it now. I have a 600watt Full spectrum that I can use I was worried it would fry them though.
Is that what is causing it to get so high? First time here well obviously:smile:
