Thought that picture was better than it came out but thereās a big difference in the progression from liquid culture to mss for sure. And this is a shot of some PE from agar which takes forever but itās looking good since I put it to grain on 11-1

Well needless to say better pictures of the jars are coming once further along in colonization but they are strong as hell. Itās tough juggling 30+ jars for a photo shoot!!

Jars are making good progress. Another 2 weeks to go max. North Spore is apparently having supply chain problems as I ordered 11 days ago and my bag hasnāt shipped yet. I do have coco and manure around in case I have to make my own bulk substrate.
Once colonized, Iāll transfer these to bulk, cover with some parchment paper and a lid, let the bulk colonize for 2 weeks, then fruit the 2 cakes.

What pasteurization method do you use with the manure?

The oven and boiling water when I mix it.

How long in the oven? Iāve been letting my qt jars sit at 200Ā° for 3 hours. Thatās after the boiling water with the regular CVG Tek recipe just swapping out some of the coco for the manure

250 for 30 minutes, but I suppose you could also do 200 for 45 minutes.

Do you allow the substrate to sit for a week or two to let the microbes recover or are you using it as soon as it cools down

Iāve never worried (or even thought about) microbes in a mushroom spawn. The point of sterilization or pasteurization is to kill all microbes. Maybe good for cannabis, but not shrooms imo.

@Covertgrower @MidwestGuy I have a quick question/idea is there any chance we could do a mushroom of the month? I ask out of common courtesy to not offend or break forum rules possibly just for fun like a Solo cup challenge sort of thing.

Happy new year everyone! Iām ready to start some more jars. I guess Iāll go pk tek again because I donāt have a pressure cooker and plenty of brown rice flower. I used 1/2 pint last time I believe. Can I use bigger jars in hopes of bigger returns? I didnāt very well at all this go and hope to improve a lot. I also started two ub brown rice bags but donāt see anything happening. Itās been almost 12 days I think.
