Very new here, so I’ll do my best to provide all the information I have. I have a Vivosun 4x4 tent. Phlizon 4,000w light…appx. 18" from plants and at 75%. JUST got ph soil tester in today, so unsure of ph yet. Feeding with Bergman’s fertilizer kit. Water ph tester due in tomorrow. Watering with rain water, but possibly contaminated with leaf debris from last year. 5 gallon Vivosun pots. Temps at @ 75-80 degrees, humidity 40-60% with dehumidifier. No CO2, but fan. 6" carbon filter exhaust.
1st problem plant is Super Silver Haze with brown leaf edges and some yellowing between veins. Forums suggest low Mag, Cal, and maybe Pot. 2nd plant with issues has yellowing of base leaves and in just 2 days dried and dropping off. Soil for both is homemade compost mixed with store-bought garden soil with no fertilizer. (Big Mistake?)
I will absolutely get those figures tomorrow, as my water ph meter will arrive in the mail. I have a soil ph tester, but after reading many forums, you pros prefer a slurry test, so tomorrow afternoon I will add those numbers in hopes of a quick response. I left out that the “second plant” with the yellowing and dying leaves is a White Widow, even though I’m aware this has almost nothing to do with the problems I’m having. Thanks SOOOOO much for the speedy response. I’ll get back with the ph’s ASAP!! =)
I believe the Silver Haze (first photo) is 6-7 weeks and the White Widow is 7-8 weeks. The silver haze had germination issues and is a full week to 10 days behind the widows. To make matters SO much worse, I tried fimming them like I did in previous grows successfully years ago, and proved I am a novice. I don’t think they even “split” like they should in topping, and as best as I can tell, all I did was stunt and slow their growth. If you’d like pics of the tops, I’ll gladly send them…embarrassing as it will be. They’re pretty butchered unless I’m seeing things wrong.
Years ago, I fimmed 4 plants. 2 had 4 tops (perfect fims) and 2 had 3 tops, so pretty successful. Then I scrogged them and it was amazing. I think this time I have destroyed my girls, and need some SERIOUS quick help, or my yields will be pitiful at best this season.
Omg would that be great news!! I can’t wait to get the numbers so i can start fixing. Assumedly it’s high for both, and I knew better not to start without my testing stuff, good soil, and compensating nutes for problems. I sure will next time. Thanks for helping me save my girls! They’re pretty mad at me right now
Hello welcome, I was wondering are you watering to run off? And when you have pH and ppm meters to test both pH/ppm of water before and after adding your Nutrients, can we get them numbers
Watering to runoff will give us the soil pH and ppm which should be between ph 6.3-6.7, ppm week 7 veg I would say around 500ppm or better.
And pics of whole plants would also be more helpful.
Again welcome to the forum a great bunch of ppl here very helpful.
I have NOT been watering until water comes out of my mesh “basket” pots! I do have a ppm tester (which came with my kitchen water filter). Are you saying the ppm needs to be 500 ppm on the runoff? I should have runoff ph and pre-watering ph results this afternoon if all goes well with mail delivery, and I’ll get some pics of the full plants too. They are embarrassing…undersized stubby little things…NOTHING like what I grew with these strains years ago . Last time I used the MH lights with both bulbs for veg an
Now for run off, I have only seedlings in right now, so I tested my soil itself before seeding, runoff using just pH water 6.5 my run off is 700ppm/pH 6.3
Soil is different than Coco, you dont want to flush all the nutrients out of your soil. Dont just continue to water on 3 gallon or bigger pots until you see water come out the bottom. Feed it slower, so u get a little and are not flushing it.
In soil i ph my water to 6.2 After i add my nutes. The problem with using soil is different pots have different amounts of nutes in the soil. You will need to test the runoff of each pot to determine the numbers. Take a couple of measurments and write down the average.
There is a thread here that instructs you just how to measure ph and tds. And how to correct it. I suggest finding it and reading it. Maybe @StonedCold13 cant point you to it as im not sure how to find it. If you dont already have it, order a bottle of Ph up and Down.
Everything you need is here, just sit back, take ya shoes off and start scrolling. Use the search button, or cruise through the catagorys to find what you seek.
I’ll search for it! Looks like my meter doesn’t arrive until tomorrow, but MAYBE I’ll get it today.
Here are the photos requested, and with the redding stems based on forums…I for SURE lack Mag, but again…ph could be the reason. Should I order and get Cal Mag coming?
Pic 1 and 2 -White Widow plant 1…FIM attempted TWICE
Pic 3 and 4 - White Widow plant 2, also attempted to FIM twice.
Pic 5 - Super Silver haze, 7 days behind the WW (wouldn’t germinate without “cracking” hull), FIM attempt once
Pic 6 - SSH plant 2, 18 days behind WW’S and 11 days behind first SSH due to germination problems AGAIN, FIM attempt once.
Can someone zoom and tell me if ANY of my FIM’s were successful? I don’t even think they split into 2 as with cropping. I fimmed years ago with great success, and watched several videos before these attempts, but I see terrible results unless I’m seeing wrong…
I had a run of like 5 that split to 2 or 4 and then the last 3 I’ve tried just grew straight i did my silver haze 4 times and it split then like an inch above it split to two again and i tried to top two of my sour diesel autos 3 or so weeks into growing and they grew like i didn’t even cut them and now they’re like a foot from the ceiling lol
Oh wow!! Well it’s obviously not an exact science then! I wanted to FIM them SO bad so I can scrogg them all, but between the ph, nutrient, and previous FIM attempts, I’m afraid I’ve already hurt them enough. I truly thought every time you cut the main stem, it’s an automatic “topping”, so at a minimum it would at least split into 2 tops. As far as I can tell, all I did to all 4 was stunt their growth.
I just started doing it the last few grows and that was my first time trying it with an auto but i knew they were gonna be huge i just posted pictures on my journal that were taken 2 weeks apart they’ve grown like 3 foot except one that i didn’t top or anything it stayed short lol of course
