Pre-harvest question (NEUTS)

I think I m about 2/3 weeks from harvest. Today was a feed with NEUTS (FF trio in FFOF soil) so should I stop NEUTS at this point through chopping time??

last weeks use just plain old water ā€œflushā€

That’s what I’ve read. Just didn’t want to deprive them in thier last couple of 3 weeks.

I’m using fox farm ocean forest and if I can successfully germinate I’ll be using fox farm liquid nuets. When you feed how much water do you use. I’m using 4 of the 5 gallon areation fabric bags and I don’t want to over feed but I also want to make sure I feed/water enough. Do I feed Nuets every day or is their a method that it goes by. I haven’t opened the nuets because I haven’t been successful in germination yet. Thank you and good luck with your flush. So close you can almost taste it

I would caution you in putting seedling’s direct into FFOF! The consensus I’ve read here is that the soil is much too hot for seedlings the Happy Frog would be better for seedling’s about as hot as I go and then transplant into the ocean Forest. With the FFOF you shouldn’t need any thing but water for at least 4 weeks than introduce the neuts 1/4 strength and ease into 1/2 strength and so on. At least that’s how I understand it. 1st time I’ve used it and so far so good.

@Audiofreak I apologize I forgot to put I have fox farm ocean forest 50% and then I have mixed black gold and roots organic soils at 25/25%. Would that be better for it or should I run and get solo cups. I don’t have anything around me to be able to get soil I have to order it online and shipped to me?

Familiar with the products you mentioned only by name. I planted my seedling’s in a solo cup with some regular ole potting soil, than transplanted into the FFOF (5 gal pots).

Are they autos? For newer growers, i believe starting autos in their fonal homes is great advise. Pros: no need to transplant, and autos are notoriously fickle. And dont have to risk missing rootbound window (waiting too late to transplant) Cons: its much easier to overwater (Number 1 reason 1st timers kill plants) in a big container then it is in a little cup.

Also when they are young… i dont water them very much at all. Prefer to saturate my soil (in a starter tray) a day before planting. Then no water for about a week. Then give them just a bit (away from stem, seedling stems are uber fragile and watering can lead to dampening off ) and wait another 4-5 days before watering again. After around 2 weeks you can possibly water every other day or every 3 days. And its more of a feeling out process then any set schedule

Don’t know about the the other soils you mentioned but FFOF only has 10% perlite by volume, it was suggested to me to add another 10%. I did and I get very good drainage. Plants seem to be happy.

:point_up:t5::point_up:t5::point_up:t5::point_up:t5: Always need 25% in my soils. I like to pour in on thick when watering

i think if you stop 2/3 weeks early on 8 week flower cycles you deprive them of 2/3 weeks important nutrition. It is not for a joke that almost all feeding schedules are ste up for 8 weeks. At the end of the day you must judge by the plant, can she take it? will she like it? The last weeks are most important in terms of bud growth and ripening… you shouldnt deprive them too early. 4-5 days of flushing is good enough in my personal experience.

This is actually alot truer then it is talked about. So many growers cut the nutes too soon, and effect their potential yields. Those last weeks are swelling and bulking times. Thats why bloom boosters are PK loaded. Great point @Cheesemaker

This was and is my concern. Using FFOF (which should by all accounts be all but depleted by now) and using FF treo By what I’ve read shouldnt increase SALTS or other unwanted adulterants into the soil. Is this info correct as to the FFOF/FFtreo.

Im not the nute guy. @DoobieNoobie n @dbrn32 know alot more bout nutes then I.

Buuut. IMO all brand name (non organic) lines slowly leave salts. Thats why the periodic flushes are scheduled.

I evem flushd my emulsion twice

With the every other feeding using just water ( ff treo feed schedual) I ASSUME that’s their atempt to prevent build up. Not experienced enough to feel secure in this fact though.

Also reading the labels on the ā€œbig Bloomā€ it is organic. The ā€œTiger Bloomā€ is not listed as organic, and am using 2 tsp per gal. So doesn’t seem to be a lot of stuff going into the soil, again could be inexpierence talking. That’s why I’m here! Do very much appreciate the input as that’s how i learn.

Yup. A good watering between is an ā€˜attempt’ at no buildup. But we do pour it on the ladies. Hopefully someone with a more scientific answer will be along shortly. Until then…

Bud porn?

There’s a lot of stuff to consider here. Fox farms has flushes built into their schedule, have you been doing them? Also, have you been checking runoff ppm? That’s really what you should be concerned about, not neccesarily just what you’re putting in. Nitrogen is your biggest concern here in my opinion. As you get later in flower the plant won’t use/need as much, and that will be biggest culprit on creating harsh smoke. But like the others say, you don’t want to starve your plant while it’s making its final push.

Sup DB. Think you were the first one to push this point with me. We were talking flushes and once again the voice of reason… or devils’ advocate

I will I’m remiss about the ppm’'s (no tds meter yet. I know) am religious about my pH adjustment and monitoring. Have religiously followed the FF Trio schedule regarding intermittent flashes between feedings. Have had no visible evidence of deficiencies so far at least none that I can see which necessarily doesn’t cover a lot but none the less seemingly and uneventful grow. Due to my inexperience I tried to err on the side of not overreacting especially when it comes to watering I have the confidence now of knowing the plants will tell me when they need water. Have also played with LST on one plant and have desided to go this way next grow.
