Hey there guys, so first grower here!
Indoor WW auto, 3 gallon fabric pots with just FFOF, my girl is 14 days old today, and about 6 inches tall! My question is,
I just tested the runoff ppm and ph;
Ph was 6.8 and my runoff ppm was 1115… when and how do I start adding nutes?? I just bought the fox farm 3 pk… any and all help is much appreciated!! Will post pics of her is you guys need me to!
6.8 is okay. The range should be 6.3 to 6.8.
Start feeding when PPM dips below 1,000 and keep it there. Start with half of the recommended strength and go from there to properly maintain PPM.
Okay, cool!! Another question, which nutes do I start with, and best method of administration??
Is the 14 days above ground? The FFOF is the hottest of the FF mediums. For 14 days typical PPMs are 600-850. This will increase with the growth stages. The FF mediums typically will carry a plant to week 4-5ish depending on if they’re big eaters?? I water to run off around week 3 and adjust nutrient feeding from there to around 950-1000 PPMs through veg with base nutrients not counting supplemental nutrients. Flower I back it down to 900-950. PH going in needs to be consistent for soil
Yes she is 14 above ground has lots of little branches growing more everyday! Is there a reason my ppm is a so high at 2 weeks? Am I watering enough? Orrr?? Also, are there supposed to little leaves growing underneath the cotyledons??
The high PPMs are from the amended medium. I’ve done slurry test on the FF mediums right out of the bag before germ or planting seedlings to check the numbers. I got 850-1000 out the bag. Higher numbers can result from not watering to run off and build up in the root zone, this comes out with your regular nutrients when you feed to run off basically taking the numbers. Important to feed and water to run off
I remove the cotyledons and anything underneath when I start HST/LST. It’ll never develop into anything.
A good simple start to finish fertilizer is Jacks 321. A lot of growers on here use it, I do as well
Okay, hmm. I think im struggling a little bit with my watering? I’ve only Watered to runoff twice, since she surfaced but when I test my with my moisture meter it stays above 4 for almost 4 days, and I water to runoff when it hits 3 about a day later…? Is my soil too dense/packed?? Or am I just not watering enough?
Is she grown enough to start training her?? If so, what’s the best way to go about it? I also have a scrog net ready to go ! Any other advice going forward? Everyone on here is just so supportive
With the Jacks 321, is there like a water/nute/feed schedule posted on here Somewhere? If not it’s okay, this site just seems to have everything, but its a little hard to navigate lol
Does this change with a 24hr light cycle? Ppl say not to do 24 hr because of the electricity cost, but idc about that so I’ve been running a 300w veg light on 24/0… and I haven’t fed at all just water
It’s a balance, so it might. More light, means more consumption of nutrients. But I think the difference would be minimal. Feed, and watch. They will let you know.
Welcome to the community @CoolTtheWiz
Just by looking she appears a little droopy. That can be from overwatering. Be sure you let her dry out before watering again. I would use just ph water and Cal-Mag for about the first 4 weeks and start your nutrients after that but start feeding the Fox Farm nutrients at a much lower dose than is on the bottle or on the chart. JMHO. Happy growing you are at the right place to get all your questions answered!!
I use FFOF, and I start bottle nutrients after 4 weeks in the dirt. And I go full strength. But I only feed once a week until about 3 weeks into flower, then full strength twice a week, and sledgehammer flush on schedule, but I only do it once they are in flower, so I do two flushes,
Here I am just after my 2nd weekly feed on their week 7 (week 3 of flower) schedule (I use the trio, the Bushdoctor stuff (minus the flower kiss), and the dry supplements (minus Rhize Up), along with Recharge every feeding:
They look beautiful! @Flitme mentioned that they looked a little droopy, but it’s been 5 days since I Watered them last, which was just about 1 gallon and got a little runoff, is it because I mist her twice a day? (just a couple sprays of plain water, 10-12hrs apart) my RH stays about 55-60%, temp 79-81°,? And any other advice going forward??
Also I noticed that just the top sets of leaves are curled down pretty significantly, is that something I should be concerned with, or just a growth quirk??
Misting won’t have any bad effects, even though some folks say that the droplets will magnify the light and burn the leaves, that is only on fuzzy-leaf type plants. Over-watering is only caused one way. And that is not allowing the medium to dry-cycle. The roots don’t want to be wet (or even moist) 24x7. I only water when by planters are light enough to feel like they are just full of dirt.
Drooping and curling leaves is a common over-watering symptom. Although other things can cause it as well.
