Pollen - How to gather, use and store?

I have bought some REG seeds hoping for at least one male so I can make my own seeds. Getting my first seeds has been a very time consuming thing. I have received one order out of 5 in 2 months!
If I find a male, since it is spring, I plan on moving it outdoors and use the pollen on 2 or 3 nodes. I have a Cheese and 4 Stardust’s started. Maybe an Asian Dream if it pops.

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

You could do it with a hermie plant you cut of the branch with the open pollen sacs as soon as they open and drop the pollen that’s when you’ll want to cut one specific branch and trash the rest of the plant.

The branch you cut with the open pollen sacs are storable in the fridge in a Ziploc bag and the pollen will be good and storable for up to 6 months. You will know when they are open they will release pollen (looks like white dust).

If they still look like yellow bananas they are still premature pollen sacs that have not developed yet and therefore haven’t bursted yet and released pollen (which is when you want to cut the branch for pollen).

Ps. Last of all do not have female plants around unless intentionally trying to bred or you will ruin your entire crop.

Can you just collect the pollen on a Qtip and put it in a ziplock and freeze it?

Thanks for the reply.

Is this just for Hermies?

New q: Are the seeds from a hermie feminized?

For males and hermie both.

As for the 2nd question when a hermie breeds it is known as “selfed” which is the breeding of. One plant which was stressed. Ie; you dont need a male to breed with it.

You will get 1 of the 4 categories of seeds:

  1. Male or female
  2. Male female, and hermaphrodite
  3. Limited variations between the offspring’s
  4. Last of all feminized seeds
