Over or underwater

Hey all, I started a new grow in coast of Maine stonington blend soil in 3 gallon pots and so far every thing has been looking good, but this morning my front right plant (northern lights auto 22 days old) seems to be drooping pretty decent. I last watered the two front pots 10/7 three days ago, and last night when I checked on the plants everything looked good, so I am wondering what gives? I am afraid to give her more water as I have been watering with 3/4 litre every three days for the two bigger girls and the left plant (gorilla skittlez auto 22 days old) seems to be doing just fine. The soil still feels a bit damp in the pots so any advice would be helpful. 53% humidity, 79 degrees, 683 par to top of canopy.

Your plants look good. I don’t see any drooping that is abnormal. The following shows cyclic drooping.

What a cool video! Does that cyclic cycle follow day/night cycles because I took that picture about 40 mins before the night cycle/lights off starts! Do you think it would be safe to go ahead and water as needed then!

Drooping usually occurs most significantly around watering time or lights on/off.

Your 2 larger plants are ready to water fully to runoff. Be sure to let the soil dry out between waterings.

That’s a solid idea, I have always kept on in my notes on my phone but having others insight would help greatly!

Here’s an example of a grow journal. Post questions, updates, and pics, and we’ll all help.

I will do one on my next run, It’ll be very helpful to have more experienced eyes on my grow, I may even start one now in the middle of veg. I just watered my plants as lights came on about an hour ago gave the two big girls each a litre of water this pic is just now from watering hopefully she perks up.

Go for it. It’s helpful to keep everything in one thread.

Fair enough, not to bother you anymore but based on that last pic do you think she is going to perk up or was watering her a mistake, dealing with stress over it lol hate when I am not sure what the plant wants/needs.

She will be fine. Be sure to let the soil dry out between waterings.

If your going to water to runoff, i would start feeding nutrients. If going organic, stop watering to runoff. My plants started to show hunger at day 16 with com stonington blend with 15% added perlite.

To answer your question, generally, sagging leafs AND stem is underwatered, sagging leaf a nd reasonably straight stem is over watered. Hope this helps.

Yea I top dressed with dry amendments at day 18 so I didn’t make it much farther then you did with the premixed nutes but I knew that going into it, too dressed with 2 tbsp of Stoning blend 5-2-4, and will hit them with buds and bloom fish bone meal two weeks into flower.

Yea it helps, the leaves on the northern lights were sagging and about half the stem was starting to bend down so she got a litre of water barely any run off hopefully it’s what she wanted.

You dont want that runoff then. Water slow as possible to maximize the amount you can give. I give mine 1/2 gallon each, daily. I find this style is better for daily watering. But every1 can have a different environment. U want that top surface to not dry out. This will improve your microbe population.

So never let the top of the pot dry out, got it. What method of watering do you use, I usually go in with my sprayer and lightly spray the top of the pot to get it wet then go in and slowly pour water in with a thin spout can.

Worked better for me. If you can go two days…great, but i had that issue and daily wateting, but with no runoff fixed it.

Well, i was a soiless guy using coco, so i have pumps, hoses, and valves laying around. I use a pump with 25’ pond tube with a valve at the end of it to control flow. Used a tote as a watering can so to speakKeep it as easy as possible.
