Ordering Soil and Ferts for 1st Grow

I use 5 gal autos myself. Don’t use the feed from the bottom method though. Just use them for run off. I love them. Very forgiving if you over water.

I ordered dry amendments(Coast of Maine) you included in your picture with Coast of Maine soil but keep reading about great success with Jacks 321.

Would Jack’s work with that soil if I skipped the dry amendments? Would dry amendments be as effective?

I ordered 10 gallon fabric pots and saucers for them.

@scryptic im not familiar with jacks, but alot of folks use it. Sure you can use it with coast of maine soil. Just remember 5 gal of soil has 30 to 45 days worth of nutes

The difference in dry amendment nutrients and a salt based fertilizer like jacks 321 is the nutrients from mixing and feeding jacks are available immediately. @ChittyChittyBangin has timed his top dressing nutrients to be available so the plants have nutrients available in between amending. I use jacks 321 with good success. Just 2 different methods of providing nutrients my friend :love_you_gesture:

First grow Strawberry fields potting soil and 3 part GH Nutrient line 5 gallon fabric pots.

@ChittyChittyBangin or anyone else who knows…

I have the Coast of Maine soil and nutrients and am about to plant seeds in some smaller containers for germination in plain Coast of Maine mix.

My question is:

Should I add fertilizer right away after transplant to their permanent 10 gallon pots or hold off? If so, how long should I wait?

You can plant directly or transplant directly when youre ready. I would add nutes at day 30. No need to add nutes until then. No need to cook. @scryptic

Awesome, thank you so much.

Get yourself a PPM meter and begin feeding when runoff PPM dips below 1,000, then maintain that 1,000 PPM throughout the grow.

Alrighty, will do. Thank you.

I have a PPM/EC meter already so I will be using it soon.

I’ve fertilized once with CoM plant food almost a month ago and I’m going to switch to flower in the next week or 2.

Would it be good to fertilize with Buds & Blooms? How much should I add?

The instructions say 1/2 cup per cubic foot of soil for outdoor container gardens. Should I go according to that?

@ChittyChittyBangin I did 1 cup per 10 gallon pot yesterday per your recommendation

Should I add 1/4 cup every 2 weeks after this? Did I just overfeed?

@ChittyChittyBangin should I flush the soil or let it go?

Nah youll be fine. She will take what she needs and leave the rest for later. Just wait 30 days and then do 1/2 cup every two weeks
