Im mixing ocean forest/happy Forest and will add some coco coir and perlite. I’m lost on how to feed. I read wait 5 weeks as Ocean Forest is strong, but after thant I am not sure where to find or what feeding chart to use. I have all fox farm nuits
Typical water only time is around 4-6 weeks after the seedling period. I would recommend not mixing coco and soil. Best way to tell when it’s time to feed is to check the run off PPMs around week 4, less than 800 PPMs and it’s time to feed. Target 800-1000 with a PH of 6.5 with liberal run off on feed days and use a drench to drought routine Growmie
Fox farm has nutrients charts that you can down load and print for trio, soil, hydroponic etc.
This one you can’t read but just search fox farm nutrients charts.
Than you. Wasn’t sure if it’s was the same if I’m mixing 2 soils.
This is a HUGE mistake never mix soil and cocoa together. Each carry a different pH in the soil. One’s 5.8 and the other is 6.5
This can create serious problems within the soils pH locking you out of nutrients, swinging your pH up and down all over the place. Do one or the other. Been there done that learned the hard way
I’d agree, don’t mix the two, seedlings like happy frog but ocean forest will be too hot for just hatched seeds.
What soil do you recommend? As I need more and can use this for other stuff. Also say I’m using a 10lb bag I can seem to find how many coco coir bricks to add (they are 1.4bs. perlite I found was 30 %
Tha you so much
I may not be the most experience but I mix this all the time. Happy frog ocean Forest and about 15-20% cultivation Nation. I have never had a problem but that’s me. These Fox farm soils are made to go together depends on what you particularly like.
I’ve learned you can get 100 growers or 100 Cooks on the same recipe everybody will have a variance.
So for me round after round after round I do pretty much a 50/50 ocean frog and a couple of scoops of cultivation Nation. I use this 7 cup scoop and that’s how I dictate how it’s 50%. I’ve never had a problem using the Coco & Pearl lite ever. Yes I know I said this three times I just had to say this is a great product and my friend actually is using the same.
I would rather say that the soil mix contains insufficient buffers to control the additional media. FF uses peat which is in a similar PH range as coco but these soils have been balanced already. You can certainly grow in it but want to take care of maintaining your base PH in the medium.
You might simply top-dress some dolomitic lime and some oyster flour to help maintain 6.3 to 6.8 range.
I am always leery of adding stuff to an already constructed commercial soil. But I’m a coco/Jack’s grower so might be biased haha.
How much coco coir and perilite should I add
How much coco coir and perilite do you use per your grow bag size
FF Coco Loco, my go to bag medium. Extremely cannabis friendly and will feed for 4-6 weeks
I use a 70/30 mix
I’m using 10 gallon fabric pots. I have a huge plastic bin that I used to mix all my soil. Now how much to use? like I said I only use 15 to 20% of whatever I’m putting it in. These 10 gallons with a full plant after flushing are pretty heavy. When I reuse soil I always shake through a half inch screen to get roots out. This time when I reuse the soil I’m going to try the Happy frog conditioning soil bag into my old soil.
Once again I see every body has their own little take on how to grow which is great. I absorb everybody’s information then I come up with my plan. Like cooking a recipe they call it fusion now I used to say you put a little this a little that and try it out. Sometimes it comes out good sometimes you like WTF.
To answer your question how much to use you should decide what’s best for you. If my 10 gallon was all soil I can only imagine the weight when those are fully soaked. Good luck
This is not true at all. I plant straight into fresh FFOF directly after germination. Ive had two grows, both with FFOF. Both planted after germination into fresh FFOF. Fed 5 weeks after and never had an issue.
I always see people say FFOF is too strong or hot for seedlings and this just is not true.
I think this was more of a recommendation Grow Bro. Not every bag of FFOF will have the same nutrient PPM level. Most layer the FFOF in the bottom with FFHF up top for the seedling roots. Best practice is to slurry test any bag medium before dropping the beans, also gives you an approximate time when nutrients will be needed
I’ve had success in FFOF from seedlings but not all genetics respond well to high nutrient levels. This is why HF is normally used for starts.
Like OG stated we’ve seen quite the variation in the product from bag to bag.
Do yoù have to ph distilled water when you got banna peel in it
I personally pH everything I give my girls.
