That’s soil is fine. You can give it 4-6 weeks of veg before feeding in that soil.
Low I’m just looking for something laid back that doesn’t break the bank. I grew up in the late 70’s early 80’s. Smoked everything there was to be smoked. Could name dozens. Anyhow, I never really tried to grow it until recently. I don’t have a tent or any of the modern technology. I get dizzy reading what everyone has and uses.
I’ve tried 2 grows. Both Auto’s and outdoors. Did ok but not big buds or yields. I’m just looking for a laid back soil grow. I am new to this and eventually might get a little more technical and move indoors but I’ll see. Thanks for any help you can give me
In my personal opinion, if this is the way you to go forward i would probably look into organic. You can basically make your own soil (with cook times) but a lot of nutrients can be supplemented DIY.
I’d like to tag a few people, organic might be the way. Based off of what you said I’m going to assume you are growing outdoors? Idk but I usually turn to these people myself.
@Budbrother @LiesGrows @Caligurl
I really don’t know the upfront costs with organic, but I feel like realistically it can be the most hands off if you do things on time.
Ocean forest can work for sure like @BobbyDigital said, but you will need a pH meter and TDS meter. Because it’s full of salt nutrients. Knowing when to feed will be based on the run off numbers you will have to check. You have to collect the run off and test tds(total dissolved solids) and pH, to see where your medium stands. This dictates your inputs. PH adjustments (pH up and pH down) and total amount of nutrients in the soil (tds.)
You can get cheap packages on Amazon that can help you determine whether or not that route is for you.
Thanks for the links Low. I’m already checking them out. The best to you and your grows
Can be as simple and as cheap as FFOF with added EWC and gypsum, Dr Earth 4-4-4 & 3-9-4 from any nursery in a box store
It can be used in soil or hydro. It’s versatile
Thanks @Budbrother
There are a lot of options out there… I think a lot of farmers that quit just haven’t found what works for them.
It’s the cheapest route I’ve found. I buy the big bags ($25) and it has the microbes and added biochar for further savings
Make sure to buy it in the first aid section… if you buy it in the bath section it will be like 4 times more expensive! Weird, I know.
I LOVE the Dr. Earth line of stuff… great price-point and many good options for the n-p-k options. I, personally use @Roadsideorganics.ok stuff… it lasts a long time and the plants really seem to love it!
Id also second the route @Budbrother recommend my organic route started with FFHF soil and adding EWC and other amendments specifically @Roadsideorganics.ok I’ve since then blend my own soil using peat moss, ewc, compost, and still utilizing Roadside Organics amendments
Yup simple mix @Gam64
1 part peat
1 part compost
1 part EWC
1-2 part perlite
Some gypsum and a 4-4-4
Cook a month for balanced soil.
Thanks Budbrother. Reading some of your posts now. I have a lot to learn
Thanks Caligurl I grabbed a bag today
