Not sure if you are following this journal but if not check it out. @PharmerBob has built a kick ass grow room in what I believe is a basement.
Yes sir. A couple of years ago I priced the materials for a barn. I was floored how much it had gone up even then. We saw the writing on the wall, so to speak. I went and bought a one man sawmill and went to harvesting some of our timber.
Prices have gone through the roof since then.
Thank you I started reading it. That room is nice! Maybe Iāll modify mine to have two separate spaces
. Got me thinking again lol
If I had the lumber to process I would look to get one of those things you attach your chainsaw. I use the wood i get for firewood
. It would be nice to have enough land with lots of trees to make my own stuff.
Usually I have at least one exhaust fan not in daily use. Iām sure Iāll order another just in case. Got three new carbon filters for backups. Is your room sealed up or not really?
I framed it out a few years ago put flooring, drop ceiling sheetrock and paint. As far as air tight normal crack under the entrance door. With negative pressure in the tent exhaust fan running 24/7 thereās no smell in the room.
Didnāt know how particular I was going to get on the Sheetrock thatās why I was asking if yours is sealed up. Might as well just do it right this go then have to do it again.
Ok so here is my new updated grow room build idea. This time I put it on paper and realized I have no artistic talent, I can barely read what I write and the pencil I sharpened with my pocket knife.
I took the space I was going to leave for storage and decided it would get more use as a dark room/ drying room. It ends up being approx 14x10 total with the other room in there. Itās also going to involve more electrical work. Going to run at lest one 20a breaker possibly two just for this area. Thinking 12 outlets throughout the room. Currently it takes about 1500w to run everything in my tent.
Installing Sheetrock will be the biggest pain for me. Not something I enjoy working with but needs to be done. For doors think a soild core for entry and a hollow one for dark/dry room. For the ceiling it will be either drywall or plywood. If Iām lucky it will be up and running for a new grow.
Sounds like a good plan @Capt.Cola I say go for it. My room is about a 16x12 gives me plenty of room for the 4 by 4 tent and a couple folding tables one to prepare my nutes. The other one to set my plants out an trim. Hard to do a good job with plants in the tent. I also installed a laundry sink which gives me a water supply. Sink also serves as a place to put a rack an set plants to catch Run off or to let plants drip out before returning to tent. Good luck with project get started and itāll all come together.
Sounds like you have a great grow room. I considered running water lines but Iām no plumber and decided against it. Could always in the future. A table and rack or shelf is a good idea for nutes. Back to thinking what I can include ![]()
Get a flex hose and a quick connect to the nearest tap in the sink ![]()
I have an outdoor hose bib that Iāll run a hose off of. Thatās my current idea. Think Iām going to move the one wall I built yesterday and make it one big room. Donāt really need a separate room and I would most likely use a tent in there anyway. It changes daily bro ![]()
Tents are good
Yea they last a while can be moved fairly easily and I could have plants in three different ones. What light do you use for seedlings?
My 3500k kingbrites.
CFLās are a good choice for the first week to⦠6400k
What do you have, whatās your options? Veg for seedlings is easy itās after they get 2 or 3 weeks old you need to juice it up
Easier than you think Capt. If you can find 1/4ā it would make the 1 man job easier if not 1/2ā lite rock is what I use when help is scarce. 1/2 the weight with no diminished integrity. I only drywalled my outside. The inside stud cavity is insulated and wrapped with reflective 1/4ā insulation sheets that comes in various Len guys and widths and 1000 times easier to install. Food for thought brother.
Youāre going to like the buzz bro! Just finished a zip.
If its anything like mine came out, heāll like it. ![]()

I have been using my 260 for everything. When they get bigger I turn on my second one and adjust them from there. Was looking into getting something to start my plants with then use the 260ās in a few weeks.
I would have to see if they have 1/4 in stock. I have to use 1/2 in one spot to match existing rock on the stairwell. The other walls donāt necessarily need the thicker material. Like you said insulation will be on the inside with some kind of wall material. If the rock doesnāt give me a problem Iāll do both sides. Iām looking into the foam board to put on the cement.
Today I finished framing the walls. Moved the one wall I built to make it one big room and closed in another. Got the doorway roughed out and predrilled for some electric coming from my panel. Iāll try and get a pic.
Good to hear about the gelato. Mine is small but buds should be potent.
