Hello everyone!

Welcome to our first ever sponsored community grow off. Back in November we put feelers out and got interest from about 40 members, who all received a free pack of Green Bodhi Northern Lights #5 BX regular seeds courtesy of @Olaf.ILGM. There has been a lot of anticipation and behind the scenes work to make this happen, and the day has finally arrived.

This topic will be viewable for anyone on the forum, but will only allow posts from those taking part in the grow off. There will be a designated chat thread that is to be used by everyone for questions, comments, and banter about the grow, linked below. Any posts in this topic that are not weekly updates will be removed.

Participants in the grow off will be dropping seeds between January 1st and January 7th. Then all will be required to move to 12/12 between February 18th and no later than March 1st. Each grower will post 1 update per week, with the new week considered being started on Sunday each week. We would like these updates on or as close to Sunday every week with the exception of first posts which can start today.

In your first post please give a general description of your grow room, equipment used, nutrients, grow plan, etc. And include pictures of your room and seeds dropped.

For weekly updates please copy paste the template below and update with relevant info. Then include TWO pictures, one wide angle shot showing your grow and the other to highlight what you believe to be the best feature each week. Feel free to leave whatever additional info you feel important in the grower comments section.

Tent:

• AGLEX M800w with UV/IR

Controller:

• AC Infinity 69 Pro

Circulation/Ventilation:

• 3x AC Infinity CLOUDRAY S6 Gen 2 fans
• AC Infinity Cloudline 6" Exhaust to attic

Humidity Control:

• 70pint dehumidifier for lung room
• 1.5gal fogger for grow tent

Growing Method:

• Autopot x4 Geopot bases with 3 Gal fabric bags

Nutrients:

• Jacks AB using 4:2 formula from start to finish

Grow Medium

• Promix Organic Garden Mix + 40% additional perlite by volume (soiless)

Grow Plan

• Germinate 5 seeds in 3% peroxide
• Transfer to Fabric Nursery Bags and place in AC Infinity germinator
• Once roots reach bottom cut bag and put into 3 Gal fabric pots
• Top water/feed for ~2 week before turning on autopot reservoir
• Keep all females. Might keep a male for pollen collection in secondary tent (undecided)
• Hope for the best

This grow will be my first non-hydro grow, but still “soilless”. I will be using LST as much as possible, no topping, and netting. May use training clips and soil staples this run if the smaller bags don’t let me do the training I want. I’ll likely stick with selective pruning/trimming and a mild lollipop before flip. Previous grow was super bushy and did great but want to try doing better in that area.

Droped all 10 seeds. Marked the cups i believe to be female to test the theory.

Soil right now brand new bag of happy frog with extra perlite. When the go to their 7gal fabric pots ill be reusing happy frog and perlie from last grow.

Nutes im gonna switch tongaia green top dress for this run

Lights right now under cheap led bulb grow lights when they go to their forever home it will be 2 szhlux 550w led grow lights. Im gonna keep then on 24hrs on while in solo cups… then 19/5during veg.

Droppped all 10 seeds in a shot glass of fish tank water with 5 drops of H2o2. Saturated the soil in the solo cups (used in previous grows) with Stump Tea. Buckets will be re-amended with perlite, blood meal, myco and worm castings tomorrow sometime.

Tent is 5x5.

Soil 10gal grow bags 2 have Happy frog I will be top dressing with rainbow mix grow, tribus and fish shit also using teas and other ammendments a long the way. No liquid nutrients
1 grow bag has Nectar of the Gods #4 Ill be top dressing with Nectar of the Gods One Shot. Goal is organic living soil.

Watering Ac infinity self watering bases but i will be watering from the top also when needed.
Well water is 8.0 I will adjust as needed.

Germination Im dropping 4 seeds in h2o and h2o2 at midnight or there abouts. Then paper towel in baggie warm dark place until I see a tail. Then into clear solo cups into red solo cups with happy frog and or NTG #4
Solo cups will sit in the soil in the 10gal bags. When roots reach out of the bottom of the cups they’ll be transplanted into the hole they’ve been sitting in.

Im using vpd mode on the ac infinity controller set at .9

I know theres only 3 bags in there I ran out of soil. I only had enough to fill the 4th bag halfway. I have a few days to get more soil.

Okay Growmies ive waited long enough came home and prepared my grow.

   I guess my information will be all over seeing i dont use just one area. I use my
   Heavy Duty Humidity Dome with Heat Mat, Germination Set with LED Grow Light Bars, 5x8 Cell Tray. This has been my go to and i feel I do my best this route.
   I start in rapid plugs in my tray with a slight cloning solution in my water. Lights on 10 heat mat medium.
   I will switch to my solocups after i get them established. They stay in that area for a week or till i know they’re good. Thats 2 Lowes grow lights on 24/7. I then move to veg 18/6 SG3000 They will be kept there till they are transplanted and ready to flip. Then depending on my cycles and who’s who might be a group closet hug instead of the tent.

I’ve been using these nutrients for 3 cycles now at least, very happy just order more… i think this is about right.

I dropped 6 seeds and can run 3 if I get 3 females. I will soak the seeds and move to plugs in a germinator. I will then transplant into a half or one gallon pot. Then into auto pots with 60/40 coco perlite. I use MegaCrop nutrients in half ro half tap water.

Alrighty! 10 dropped in a 3 part water 1 part hydrogen peroxide solution. Here are the set ups.

Nutrients: i use Coast of Maine Stonington Blend with their Stonington Blend Veg and Buds N Bloom Flower dry amendments. I supplememt with worm castings tea along with flower power when they flip.

Will be doing LST and top at the 6th or 7th node
Temp is 73 consistently
Light is a Marshydro TSW2000 300 and will.add my other Marshydro ts1000 150watt when the time comes

Will have a real grow room built in a couple weeks will be 6ft long 4ft wide and 6.5 ft tall. Currently have a Hazeberry and Sugashine growing in room at the moment.

I dropped 4 seeds hoping for at least 1 female. They’ll be in my 2x4 tent with 3 autos that are about a week in flower. If (when ) it gets too crowded I’ll either setup another tent for the autos or gift to a friend to finish out.

I will top and do some LST, nothing major. I already have a Widow Maker Auto just over 2 weeks. The feeding will be adjusted as necessary and upwards of 1,200ppm come flower.

Heat issues with the addition of the UVA30 have me running a 4" Vivosun and a 6" Mars Hydro fans/exhaust.

4 Northern Lights in paper towel. Hopefully 2 females. 1 will make me smile.

Running masterblend tomato formula with silica again roughly like Jack’s. I haven’t decided on the final numbers but I change it slightly as they grow. I’m trying to push them to the limit this time.

Still working out the kinks on my auto watering setup but just about there.

I dropped 6 seeds last night I would be really happy with 4 females but as long as I get 2 I should be alright. They will be topped around node 4 or 5 and heavily trained.

I am dropping all 10. Not affraid to cull here. Definetiley want a male to do a pollen run with some of my other work. I have been using the paper towel method since 1990. It would be bad luck to change now. Welcome home to Seattle northern lights. I hope we have a long relationship. Surprisingly, never grown NL so this is exciting.

Sprout room will be in my fish room or aka garage. I will sprout them atop my lucky discus pair that is kept at 84deg f. There they will remain transferred in starter cups until 3-4 sets of true leaves. Nothing but the 20 watt cloner lights I run my whole fish room on. 20watt Lux full spectrum cloners. They got bought out and no longer exist (Lux). I love the daisy chain option they came with.

Anyway, starter soil is usually pro mix, but had to switch to the backup sunshine mix because my local hydro shop just closed. Bad timing. Transplant soil will be from my outdoor bed living soil. Fish Water only, unless I get a weird deficiency pop up. I have been working it w char and compost for 19 winters now. Love to pour out all my used old pots ontop of the beds, remix, cook all winter w the leaves and compost, then refill em. This will be the source of my living soil for the grow. Pest you ask, nothing the beneficial pests eaters can’t dispose of. If I need to I can pull out the spray guns. Historically minor risk. I grow way more pollinator plants and herbs than cannabis. They bring in the troops.

Then out to the greenhouse to spring flower under the sun. . If they make me smile they will be reveged, and properly grown in ground raised beds for the fall harvest. I will probably take 2-3 of them to knock up with my jillybean crosses and praying for a couple load blowers to do same from the NL.

Happy growing all, I feel like many of you are old friends even though we have never met. Some of us have. I probably won’t grow the biggest bud, but I promise to keep it interesting. Ha
