Newbie trichome question with end of season approaching fast

First time grower here and having the usual clear vs cloudy trichome question. High temps have been in the 50s the last few day and looks to remain there for the foreseeable future. Was an abrupt change from 70s. I’m in northern NY. Buds still appear to be fattening up and no other issues are present.

Are the trichomes clear or cloudy??? Was hoping to harvest just as amber appears. Afraid of running out time with weather. Any advice greatly appreciated! TIA.

It’s really hard to tell with that picture. Do you have a digital scope or maybe a jewellers loupe?

They lol very healthy. I would let them grow until the very last second.

You will need a jewelers’ loupe or a digital microscope to be able to see trichomes. Plant is likely stalled out due to lower temps. Also be aware that some plants never go milky or amber.

I think you are at a point where you should look to the weather to determine your harvest day. Rain or cold temps would be your trigger.

I do have a loop and been using it throughout. Pic actually looks like what it see with loop. I’m guessing they are cloudy but also wanted input on the weather conditions. Will stick it out and keep growing. Thanks!

In my experiance, when in doubt, wait it out. If you have no issues then the longer you can wait the better it will be. The plants i harvest last always put out the best smoke. Imo✌

Welcome to the community budder… you’re girls look amazing and tasty. Keep up the good work. Definitely don’t want to harvest early after all that effort. Patience will pay off big time. :v:

I use a magnifier, I have a 0-60x and a 60x-120x.

There is a science to picking the right time, and last year I waited too long as have about half terpenes that have turned amber. I prefer prior to that, when the terpenes are milky. This is to say you can get different terpenes readings by selecting multiple bud leaves. I thought these were milky when I harvested but went to about 3rd week in Oct. This is pretty late in the season, and there are not a lot of strains that harvest so late. Last year was definitely some of the strongest weed I have grown. Have my fingers crossed for this weekend, terpenes are looking good. I grow Maui Wowie and White Widow, both of which harvest late in the season, late October. Saturday the 14th is a full moon, so I’m harvesting on Sunday. So far it’s still dry in California. This is for an outdoor grow.

MW is my favorite taste and a great high, but for the 2 years I’ve grown it, the yield is very disappointing. I’ll be lucky to get 1-2 per plant. Yield is much lower than White Widow.

When mine get ready to harvest my sugar leaves start to turn. rule of thumb I use is when I want to cut the girls off at the knees I pimp slap myself real hard and wait another 2 weeks. :sunglasses: :+1:Cat and don’t forget to flush.
