Can't tell if close to ready or not

I got my USB microscope. Still having a tough time determining if trichs are cloudy or not. Any thoughts?

Try to get pics of actual bud and not just the sugar leaves because they turn sooner than the buds and the buds are what youre after

Sometimes I get a better view by turning off the lights on the scope and just looking at it in a brightly lit room. Might have to snip a little bud off to see it somewhere else. The bright leds on the microscope cause glare and if you can get in a more even light its much easier to see the state of the trichomes.

For some reason the pics are too degraded from enlarging and they lose some definition when uploaded to the forum. From what I saw of the pics of just the plant I will say you are probably in the window of harvest. Nearly all the pistils have turned brown and so its close if not done.
If you want a sleepy sedative effect then wait another week or two.

My only concern is that there are no amber trichs yet.

Sometimes amber is stubborn. I grow a lot of Northern Lights and it takes forever to get any amber. But amber is degraded THC and is higher in CBD and CBG. Unless you just really want the sleepy effect harvesting before you see amber wont hurt a thing. Amber on the sugar leaves does the same thing amber on the flowers does. We tell people to wait for amber on the flowers so that THC has peaked, but once they start to amber THC is in decline. Many people want a little amber to balance the buzz. What I do is keep a CBD vape pen handy and if I get a little paranoid then I hit the CBD and it takes the edge off.
Also “Cloudy” is also described as Milky and I think its a better description. Looks like you dropped a little milk into a glass of water.

There is some Northern Lights in the strain which is why they may not be showing amber. It’s Jack Herer.

Here are a couple more. This is tricky because I don’t want to chop prematurely but they look a bit milky.

I agree, would feel comfortable taking this down now if you’re ready.

The difference in cloudy vs amber is significant. Since I grow for a medical circle here i go both ways. Most of my ambered stuff the guys and gals now prefer in edibles exclusively. Have been harvesting 90-100% cloudy for the smoke. Still has good med properties but very phsycoactive also.
