Yes ffof on bottom ffhf on top. No nutes until flowering usually besides calmag. Sorry been busy for the late reply. An you don’t need all my other crap jus calmag silica and Dr earth dry amendment
I wasn’t referring to their nutes, they are very salty, but I’ve had great grows on the trio. I was referring to their soils, several folks here have had tanked ph with it right out of the bag.![]()
Ay doc i was referring to the person who said not to use jacks 321. Sorry for the confusion.
The top two are fine for just starting out. I dont like the soil readers because they arnt very accurate. Best to check the ph of your water that comes out the bottom of the pot after watering…also known as run-off.
Gotcha, nothing wrong with Jacks!![]()
Me an I only said because it’s not the best for ffof. No worries especially if you don’t know how to use a none organic salty fert. I personally don’t care what one uses I was jus saying why run ffof live when your using syn? An wouldn’t it be easier to use pro mix? Like I said before in a message my pops and all his old heads used pro mix an peters 202020 with great I mean killer results. But then Peter changed name so people didn’t know what to get for the longest time(old heads)
Ty I didn’t see the reply you took words right outta my mouth
Good luck to you. I have several different kinds I use and have use. If you’re easy with your equipment it will last. All the new stuff is about the same. Poles thick enough to hold what you want. Large enough for what you need. I’ve never had one that didn’t have light leaks. I keep mine covered up with blankets and tarps anyway. I have a couple of phantom tents. Haven’t used them yet. I do like the gorilla grow tents. Have a Mars Hydro I’ve been using for about five years now. I believe the gorilla is almost about four years old.
That sounds like some good suggestions for someone who’s just starting out. The trio is pretty good. There is a special on Amazon on the pH perfect right now. It did come with the micro grow and bloom with a calcium magnesium kit with some extras for under $60. I don’t use Jack’s either. I know it could be a lot cheaper.
I used the pH perfect Trio and Happy Frog three to one with perlite and still my pH shot down. It was suggested I use Pro mix and next time I will but if I were to use Happy Frog again I would definitely flush it first.
That’s so weird I’ve used both ffhf and ffof an never had. A problem with ph but the way I do stuff is not the normal way an I have no problems at all. So I guess to each they own. I have pictures to prove after transplant plant is fine so idk. Never had to flush ever all 3 years? I think problem is they are so big they can’t keep up with every batch or something I’m not sure what the problem is. But I know one thing fox farms is getting way to big an doesn’t care about the custos
Will the ac infinity duct fan work with the vivosun controller? I thought one had LAN connections and the other some other kind or something. Id check and double-check. Vivo is difficult with returns. Through Am would be the smart way, no issues hopefully. I see the main discussion was around medium but to talk about the tent. An issue I have run into is too small of a space versus the duct fan. I cannot run the duct fan idling without a whole lot of humidity to get a low vpd. Just on a speed of 1 with all vents open even, most ridiculous balancing act and failing at that. Im a newbie too, and I wouldnt go smaller than 4x4 if I were to do again. That being said, thats considering that duct fan you have there doesnt sound like a cessna on speed 3. Neither vendor has this balancing act with integrated components to completely balance it appears however the ac infinity components themselves seem to be holding up better so I like that choice
Might want to bring a dehumidifier into play. If you can, control the lung room that the tent is drawing from, and it will make the tent more manageable.
Should I consider a smaller 2x2 tent for drying curing only? I mean I want to keep the 4x4 in continuous grow mode. Any thoughts?
A big cardboard box works well. You want air moving but not directly on plants. A cardboard box and small fan. For around 200$ you can build a Drydoc.
Build starts around post 96.
I don’t remember asking but as a newbie, using a 4x4 tent with 7.5 gal bags should I do 2 or 4 plants at a time? Trying not to overwhelm myself. Plus should I do auto’s only or can I do auto and photo in same tent without issue? Thanks for all the advice everyone!
It depends if you want to do a lot of training or if you prefer a more hands off approach.
I like to do 4 plants, but I do a lot of training and torture.
4 is easily doable, but 2 or 3 would be easier on a newbie.
Not ideal but achievable. The thing is autos might be ready to flower before you’re ready to flower the photos. So dealing with different nutrients and light schedule might be a lot to juggle. But autos are pretty forgiving as far as lighting.
@Dman1969 would be a great person to ask… ![]()
Thank you
for the tag
Dan!
@Thatponyguy you can grow 4 autos in a 4x4 no problem but 4 photo’s would be stuffed like sardines in a tin can. A 5x5 is packed pretty good. But you could train them and make it work very well.
You can grow autos and photos at the same time. No problems with changing light schedules with autos. They don’t respond to that. They are on a set timeframe. I would suggest planting them both at the same time. And you may be able to grow two autos back to back in the time it takes to get the photos done. ![]()

I don’t do anything fancy to let mine dry. I see some good suggestions up there. A shop vac is always good to have.
