First time grower - need advice

Hi,

I’m completely new to this with not much knowledge but excited to learn and give it a go.

I was looking at the AC Infinity Advance Grow Kit 2x2 Compact with the Iongrid T22 lighting option, as I don’t have much space. It’ll be going in a cupboard, sitting above a washer/dryer. Would that be an ok location?

Is the kit ok or would you recommend something else? Is there any other must have bits of kit? pH meter?

Can you point me to some articles or YT vids on learning about the whole process?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. I dont know much about the kits. But you would 100% need a ph meter and a tds meter. Decide how you wanna grow soil or soilless. And a decent nute brand… most people on here use jasks 321… others have luck with fox farms. My grow i just started im using gaia green. 2 x 2 nice for one plant. The uongrid t22 is 130w light so should be ok for that size.

Hey @dbrn32, moments ago I experienced a glitch in the matrix…this thread disappeared and then came back.

You’re going to have a tough time placing your tent that high. Even the compact models. It’s just going to be difficult to access, and to feed and water. If you have a spill, you’re gonna rain all over your appliances

This kit would provide you with a serviceable grow tent. 2x2x4 is pretty small especially in height, but it’s manageable if you approach properly. You will need to provide fresh air into bottom of tent and have exhaust removed from top in order to remove heat and supply co² for plants. If you can do that in the space near your appliances should work.

You will probably still want ph and ec testers, ph adjusters, fertilizers, and growing media to get started.

The system flagged it as potential spam. It came back after I reviewed the post and cleared flag.

LOL I kinda’ suspected something like that. :vulcan_salute:

The OP handle was something that the system may have reacted to.

Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate the location isn’t ideal but it’s all I’ve got. I’ll install a shelf above the washer/dryer for the tent to sit on. I’ll just have to use a step ladder to access it as it grows but I don’t mind doing that.

I assume the taller 2x2 tent is the better option? One is 48” and the other is 71” in height. I might not be able to fit the 71” so would have to go with the 48”. I need to double check.

Once I become advanced would it be possible to have 2 plants in the 2x2 tent or is the space not big enough?

I dont thinknspace will be enough for more than 1…

Ok 1 is fine to be honest but was just wondering. I double checked and I’d have to get the 48” one as not enough space for anything taller.

I’m guessing I should be ok if I train the plants and tie them to the sides? I’ve also seen that when looking for seeds it gives you an indication of the plants height range so choose one suitable?

Final question is I’m assuming I’d be better off installing the filter on the outside to save space?

Yeah filter on the outside. Are you sure there is no ither space? In a closet or under the stairs? I know ive grown a few strains that stayed at about 2.5 feet and gace me 3 to 4 oz

There’s also a ton of info u can download from the ILGM website. Start with the Grow Bible.

I’ve grown 2 plants a 3X3 shower stall. It gets pretty crowded.

That was probably just a seedling or clone rooting tent by design.

It will be a real challenge to grow well your first time in a 2x2. It will be like growing an apple tree as a house plant. Canna really likes to grow. Don’t try autos. You will have no control. You will want to start them on 12/12 lights to skip veg.

Anyway, that is a challenge for experienced growers, to grow in such a tight space. I am not saying don’t do it. Just want you to know you are starting with a 20 stroke handicap…

Ive started with autos and had a bit of problems but nothing that killed off the plant. Did it impact yeild probally. But my last epilson auto in 8 weeks gave me 3.5 oz no major problems and stayed around 2 feet tall

2x2x4 doesnt leave much headroom after the light (min 6") and the plants pot (another ??? min 10 inches) . T5 floros or the like should be your lighting type. Any LED or HID (CMH) takes up much more needed headroom and there needs to be some space between the light and the top of the tent for heat to rise. And you’d have to have intake and exhaust, that hot air has to go somewhere. I’m not trying to discourage you but to enlighten you so you might be successful. I use a 2’x2’x71" tent, one plant, scrogged. lighting/heat is the biggest problem creator.

People have grown in computer cases, so it isn’t impossible just tedious.

I know it isn’t ideal but it’s all I’ve got to work with - it’s either that or no grow. I’d have liked more height to work with but for now this will have to do.

Would auto seeds help? I read they don’t grow too tall.

Also should I use the provided 5l fabric pot or get a 2l or 3l one instead? I’m not sure what the pro’s/con’s are when it comes to the pot size. I’m assuming bigger pot size would generally mean bigger plant? So better to get a smaller one?
