First time grower - need advice

You can use a 3 gal pot or 5 gal. I have done autos and the ones i had stayed small. Epilson f1 from royal queen did really well. And i think a 3 gal pot would work good for it

I think I’ll try the 3l pot first then.

Forgot to say there’s 2 diff sites I can get it from but their bundles seems to be slightly diff? Main diff I can see is one offers Pro T4 and the other Pro S4.

I get the choice of light take the 150w. So it seems they are about the same. Different in the inline fans. So up to u at that point. Did you decide your growing medium?

I think I’ll go with coco coir.

Found a pic of someone’s 2x2 setup and seems pretty decent. Looks like they moved the filter to max the space whilst keeping it all still inside.

It can be done. And you will figure out ehat works for you. You wanna try and have as much room in the tent as possible for the plant. You can do 2 SMALL plants but might sacrifice yeild a lil bit. What nutes are you gonna use? Seeing ur thinking coco you need to feed right away and charge the coco. Where you getting your beans from

Thoughts on getting a bigger light? I’ve been reading and a lot of the 2x2 owners upgraded their lights to the S33 and some even the EVO 4 but I think would struggle for space with the EVO 4 and you’d have to put the inline and filter outside which I don’t really want to do. I’m tempted by the S33 though:

I’ve not decided on nutes yet but been looking at Shogun. I still want to look into it more though. Open to suggestions and advice on this.

Not decided on seed supplier either. It’ll definitely be online but again need to research it. I’m in UK if people have suggestions.

If you upgrade the light you might be able to get 2 small plants in there… i knownthe epilson would probally be good and should fit 2… it would be tight but do able

Yeah definitely going to go for the S33 light from the get go. I’ll probably give 2 plants a go as well lol I’ll get 3L pots.

Any recommendations for nutes?

Also what pH/EC meter should I get? Is it also worth getting a handheld VPD?

A lot ofnpeople on this forum use jacks 321. I have not used it yet. I have used fox farms trio but dont really like it. I use the ph pen and tds tester from vivosun works decent. Just rember to recalibrate ut every grow. And i have never used a vpd meter and a lot would say dont chase vpd. Keep your tenps and rh in line and vpd will follow suit

My filter is outside the tent pulling air out instead of pushing, and not using up space.

Yeah I think I’ll have to keep the inline fan and filter outside due to the space, especially as I’m upgrading to the bigger light.

Will there be any benefit in upgrading the inline fan and filter from the 4” to the 6”? Even if the 2x2x4 tent can’t benefit from it I’m thinking it’ll save me an upgrade in the future if I get chance to move into a bigger tent.

Thoughts?

I dont think you would need a 6in now. Itnwould be over kill i believe.

Yeah I hear you. I was just thinking it’ll cost me like $70 now to upgrade both versus $300 if I wanted to get it later but truth is I’ll probably never need it. I also thought if I’m keeping the filter outside the tent it might help with the smell as it’s slightly bigger?

Ok I think I’m going to go with Advanced Nutrients for the nutes. They’re easily available in UK. Got a couple q’s re nutes though. Should I use their chart and get every product on that chart? Also, I can’t find their ph up/down so would it be ok to get one from a diff brand? I read it’s not good to mix brands?

I run my fans outside my tents with no issues.

Tagging @Lostgirl for question on AN nutes.

What’s the config when it’s outside the tent? You’d have it pulling air out from the tent? Would you then run another duct from the top out but not connected to anything? Also, does the filter being on the outside have any impact on the smell? I’ve read some people say it smelt more so they put it inside.

Thanks for the tag re the nutes.

Here is my setup. Vent on bottom bringing in fresh air. I had tent door open.

Vent out of top of tent to fan then carbon filter.

Same on my 3x3

And a pic of my girls.

I haven’t noticed a thing smell wise, but sometimes like now with low rh I leave them open til lights out :nose: Besides gaining height it is much easier to change filters on the ground, than using the tie straps to lower the fan. I hated that part.

Thank for the pics and your girls look great!

Do you put the cover inside the filter when it’s sitting outside?

I believe so, that is what they recommend. From memory so
