First time grower. Down to one plant. Other 4 didn’t survive due to my errors. Hoping this one makes it.
I live within 2 blocks of the ocean in SC. So weather is hot and humid. I was late getting my seeds out and it’s now the first week of July.
I started my seedling in MG (since learned mistake). I just replanted into coco mix after removing as much MG as possible. Now in about a 6 gallon grow bag outdoors. Good decent amount of sunlight hours but I sometimes move it during the late day to more sun.
The plant has 4 sets of leaves but grows very slowly. It is about 4 plus weeks old. I would have thought it would be bigger by now. I purchased and use the fertilizer sold on this site. Use half strength per this sites instructions.
Does the size look appropriate for 4 weeks?
Since it’s so late in the season, should i at some point move to my shed and use a grow light. Maybe in the fall when days are shorter or do I still have time for outdoor maturity?
Welcome to the forum! Lotta good people here to help.
I live in the North East and wouldn’t be able to finish that outside starting now. You have a longer growing season than me so maybe…. @pr lives in the Carolinas and grows outside as well as inside. He would be better able to advise you.
Hi
The others that died was due to me putting the seedlings on the back porch. They stretched trying to reach sunlight (grew fast but skinny). I don’t think enough direct light.
I also over watered. I used Miracle Grow dirt.
Stem was long and without much green color. They would fall over and weak. Eventually looking sickly and died.
The one I have survived in spite of my learning curve.
Yeah, most likely over watering dampened off the stems. They need very little water at that stage. If I were you, I’d plan on finishing up under lights. And I’m not sure you should mix coco with soil, but I’m not positive about that. I use happy frog, and some other organic nutrients.
When I replanted from MG to coco, I removed as much MG as possible without damaging the plant. Hopefully that little bit of remaining MG won’t hit it??
If I were to finish under a light, do you have a recommendation for a economical one for a single plant??
Can you explain a little more? Pull some clones off her?
Are you saying for me to take some cutting of her (once bigger) and try to propagate new plants? If so, doesn’t that require a grow light set up because of where we are in the season?
Any suggestions for a grow light for a single plant?
@Graysin sould you mind recommending that one you posted about a few x’s? Green something. I know everyone seems to love it and it’s economical if I remember correctly?

240w or 480w are the two models. For one to four plants (up to a 3x3) I’d get the 480 watt. For a 2x2 I’d do a 240w. Or the 240w is a great light to supplement a second light in a 2x4 or 4x4.
