Hi everyone! Super nubie here! Just stopping by to say hi, finally decided to stop lurking and create an account. As far as my grow is going I got the autoflower White widow seeds and germinated them and placed them in peat pots and yesterday I saw one sprout today woke up saw that another one sprouted so I’m getting really excited and hoping I’m doing things right to stay on a good track. I added a pic of the sprouted! I know it may be too soon to be excited but I can’t help it
Hi and welcome congrats on the seed drop. I suggest a forum search “peat pods” see other’s attempts.
In a few days the root can hit the bottom of a solo cup.
If the other 3 arent planted yet consider putting the sprouts right into soil and skip the peat. Its one less intervention and you might like better
Welcome to the community! Glad to have you…
We will happily accept your excitement here. We all love plants growing.

Hey @PixiePop , Good job! Its exciting to see them open up.
I will tell you now that those pods are way too wet.
You need to get them drier and the easiest way is to set them on a dry folded paper towel.
It will wick away the excess water. Damp is all you want.
That level of wet you have now will cause damping off which is a stem rot.
@Spiney_norman Oh no! I literally just ran to put paper towels under em. How often should I be spritzing?
Toilet paper, dry wash cloth, newspaper. Just something to wick water away.
Plant them in soil now. No need to wait any longer. It will help regulate moisture as well. Soil should be damp but you shouldn’t be able to squeeze any water out with your hands.
It takes a long time to kill a sprout by underwatering.
Here is one I sprouted in a solo cup…
Here it is two weeks later with no water or spritzing at all.
It was another week before it wilted.
Point is done worry it will die from lack of water.
Give it a small drink when the soil seems fairly dry.
Put the two ladies in foxfarm soil a few days ago cause I saw roots sprouting. Didn’t realize until I read some more articles that I should have just put them in whatever the final pot is going to be but I guess all nubies make mistakes. I guess when they get taller I should go ahead and transplant them. Any advice?
Hi @PixiePop and again welcome. I know this is kinda late but you can always transplant up. Some folks start their seeds in their forever homes to prevent transplant shock. I will transplant up a few times. I also start in peat pods and as soon as they sprout I put them in soil. I will give may e a few drops of water a day to promote root growth. I know it has been a while since you did this transplant, how are they doing now?
hows the progress?
