Hey guys so today i tested my run off after giving my girls a good drink. The ph came back at 5.7 and ppm was 1900. Ph seems low so i should just water with tap water next time correct to raise the ph in the soil? Also is the ppm where it should be? The plants are 19 days from sprout.
What kinda soil you using? 5.7 isn’t that low if it’s fresh, also. 1900ppm isn’t too high, either, unless you’ve been feeding at something way lower for weeks amd weeks.
Miracle grow… and using fox farms 3pack and started cal mag today
I haven’t used miracle grow. If you’re plants are still relatively young, and don’t have any noticably obvious signs of deficieny (ie fading, spotting), or toxicity (ie clawing, waxy leaves) then you should be fine with just a couple plain, pH’ed waterings the next couple cycle. Maybe pH to 6.5-.6 so to help bring it up. Like you said pretty much.
Also, with the FF trio, after a few weeks of use, their feeding schedule calls for a Sledgehammer flush Sledgehammer is the stuff they make that breaks up salt deposits at the root zone (FF is notorious for it) and flushes them out with runoff. I think it has in 2 or 3 times in the schedule.
Right on man. I would just stick to watering in the mid 6.5’s for the next couple/few cycles. Just try to get numbers close to what you put in, but you’re looking alright from here!
Thank you so much… this is the first time in about 25 years im trying to grow again lol
Also how woudl i do the flush?
1900 is way too high, you should be around 1000, over feeding is probably dropping your ph. Next two watering, use only cal mag at 125 ppm and ph water to 6.7-6.8. Your ph should be 6.5 in soil. The water and calmag should bring down the ppms and ph up. You should be able to get by without flushing just yet, but FF must be flushed occasionally or the salts will drop your ph and lock out nutrients. Best case, switch to something that doesn’t build up salts.
Ok do that instead of the sledgehammer flush??? Or do the flush then do what you said
Don’t do both, you can do either but flushing is a lot of work and time. You could do the Sledgehammer to fix it quick but you’ll have to do it a couple more times during your grow with FF nutes.
Yeah according to this i have to do it at the end of next week… so ill wait till then… and next 2 waterings ill just do calmag and ph of 6.6
When you flush, ph your water to 6.5 and flush until runoff comes out same. Then, immediately feed with 1/2 or 3/4 strength nutes. You can’t put too much water through them at one time, over watering comes from watering too often, not volume. Flush, feed, then let dry back before next watering.
His plants are only 19 days from sprouts, 1900 ppm will burn them up….
I also notice that you are feeding them right now. If not the cannabis line of Miracle Grow that stuff is ammended heavy typically. High nitrogen. Time released. Any added nutes, till kinda let it eat your ppm down to 1k or so and then maintain, is just over feeds. Personally I would stop feed as said for a week or 2. I prefer a hungry plant over an overfed 1. Can fix hungry. Overfed is a flush or ride it out and plant damage to leaves. Look at tje ammendmemt levels of your soil. It is listed on the bag. If it is high in Nitrogen I would back that off with your trio till the time released stuff is gone. Just my thoughts.
Thank you all for the advice. The soil is just normal miracle grow not the cannabis line. But i will hold of on nutes and just do cal mag and ph 6.8 water for the next 2 or 3 feedings… then it will be the flush per foxfarm recommendations
Do the plants look good otherwise??
They do.
I’ve started plants in FFOF that had slurry test readings over 3k out of the bag. They burned but snapped out of it by week 3. Being Miracle Grow it probably has time release nutes which won’t necessairly flush away since they are actual small pellets.
I just snapped to all of that after reading Storms reply. I read MG, i mentioned MG, but totally went deet-da-dee.
So the soil is more so 2 parts miracle grow and 1 part peet moss to keep it airy
