So i have a very small limited space my afghan autos seeds from ilgm come next week, i have a 5 gallon fabric pot using fox farms happy frog, pretty decent gardener, also have a 150 watt grow light carbon filter and small fan, humidity is ranging between 50-62%, and temp is 78. Only wanted one small plant and plan to do 20/4 light periods.

It’s a 16x16x48 tent in my detached garage also, is this good enough? I know it’s a tight space. I’ve been reading a lot but any advice for this small grow or what people think it will yield I’d truly appreciate it.

Welcome to the forum.
If it was me I would go 3gallon pot and 18/6 on the lighting.
My wife grew a blueberry auto in a cabinet which was smaller and got 5 ounces off it.
It was in a 1 gallon pot. 5 Gallons will work but maybe a bit overkill. And its better for the pot to go wet to dry in a few days.

I ordered 3 gallons because i figured this 5 was too big, i really appreciate it, and that’s uplifting news because everything i read on here was people saying don’t go smaller then 2x4

We can work with about anything.
Bad news is that light is not 150 watt but only 18. It might be ok for seedlings for a week or so but it wont grow a plant.
Here is the Amazon info. Don’t feel bad, many of us myself included fell for false, misleading advertising.
Are you planning to keep with this setup or upgrade later?

Yea that’s the exact one i bought lol i guess i screwed up yes i planned to keep this setup i guess i should order a new light to fit that space any recommendations that won’t break the bank? And fit in the 16x16 area *

Yes that would work but uses an older less efficient lm301 diode.
And in that small space you really want a dimmable light

I just reread your seeds are on the way.
You might go ahead and return that light. Its not gonna work and you can get the new one before you get going.

Agreed about loving growing and we all fell for the fake wattages. Hell I even bought a 2nd one thinking 2 crappy ones would equal one decent one . Just to turn around and order a nice expensive light. Luckily my wife is using the blurples for her house plants so I don’t feel salty. Also if you listen to the people here you are bound to have a good grow. Here’s 2 of my girls from my first grow just hit 60 days old.

You might also take a look at the smaller hlg lights. Use code DUDE for a discount. I love my new 350r in a 2x4, but that would be overkill for your tent. They ship fast too. Great customer service. They also have remans if you can catch one in stock.

I’m a little agitated with all the data they give didn’t provide ppf, and i haven’t molested one of these in person. But it’s probably plenty for the size tent in use and i agree dimming would be good here.

This is a really sweet little light new from HLG. Its 150 true watts quantum board, full spectrum, dimmable and perfect for a single plant.!! Ive got one under it right now in a 2x2 and its killing it. You can not start seedlings at 100 percent dial it back and work your way into veg… good luck on your grow. Cheers!

Wow that is amazing i just have a super small tent, i ordered the one spiney recommended, and installed it. Just worried i don’t really have room to raise the light up higher due to the carbon filter. Any tips or problems you guys think I’d run into. I am going to do LST horizontally and try and keep the plants short. ( afghan autoflower) also put the 3 gallon in there

Just wondering if i should suck it up and get a 2x4 tent and go for 2 plants in 2 3 gallon pots just really didn’t wana use the space if anyone has advice or think my set up is good enough for a decent yield, esp that i can’t really move the light any further up.
So i can just connect the ducting from inside tent to draw into filter and then the fan (both outside the tent) ?that would be awesome and yea i can’t have the smell, i have a full bar in my garage this is a second room attached behind the “bar space” so i don’t want people smelling it when they come over for parties. Also how should i incorporate fresh air i didn’t see any threads on that, i was going to put that little fan in one of the holes blowing in from the outside.
Your tent height is going to be an issue:
Grow bag 8 in tall
Plant BEFORE flowering let’s say 14" veg.
Plant will grow 14 more inches when flowering
Allow 10" above plants for lights so you don’t burn colas
4" clearance for light and pulleys
That adds up to 50"
That doesn’t even count you creatively rearranging the carbon filter location
