That is a solid bit of info, I appreciate it!
Speaking of “next time”…
I’m not sure what that is on the right in the first pic but on the left, I recognize that leaf I love so much. In the second pic, you see the latest sprout to break ground!
Further update on what was lost.
No more caterpillars today. I think I got them all. But there has been significant damage to some of the bud. Wondering if I should just harvest early so I can give everything a good rinse.
I woke up today certain that the worms were still winning the battle. I knew there was nothing thorough or scientific about my prognosis that I’d “got them all”.
I decided that today I would face facts:
-
Anywhere they were comfortable enough to chill, eat bud, and poop was a nest. That’s nesting behavior. In anyone’s house, the dirt is In the deepest corner.
-
Unsightly dead bud needs to go to allow air to the now struggling bud around it.
-
Worm poop probably isn’t the best thing to smoke.
-
Dying bud up top, means living worms below
-
Daily butterflies means daily reinforcements to fight
So, my plan was to remove dead flowers and leaves and the poop underneath, digging as far as there was still poop and dead flowers. Keeping it, sentimentally or for the shape of the cola is willing blindness to the fact that something is down there feeding.
What I found is that I was right. And there were about 12 FAT worms of various colors matching every hue of leaf, pistil, and calyx.

Thank you also @Tr33 for the tipp. I ordered btk but I knew i couldn’t wait
Hang in there and keep plugging away. “It ain’t over til’ the fat lady sings”.
What a battle. Those dang worms are a conspiracy against man and his marijuana. Hang in there.
My new girl just broke ground today, and I am waiting on one more to show herself.
No new rot and only one worm this morning. I feel like I’m on the right side of this thing and still a lot of unaffected bud. 2 full branches untouched.
Good to hear
Great news. Your diligence is paying off. I would still pick up a skeeter net for the future…just in case.
You’ve done a great job!
My house smells better than it has ever smelled. Mornings of bacon, coffee and the dense aroma emanating from the well-fanned back bedroom.
Got four of these bad boys. Anybody want to guess the wet and dry weight?
Wow, that turned out nice guy! nice job trimming it up too.
What was your harvest work like? I need to plan mine, and I’d like to know what you did.
I did the original fan leaf trim outside. Then I cut down each branch of bud colas I wanted to harvest. (Left about 1/4 of the tree intact)
Once inside, I hung them up on the backs of chairs. Then I did the more in-depth trim and manicure and rinsed the trimmed colas, one-by-one, in the peroxide/water solution.
I watched the new Planet of the Apes and during that amount of time, I got all of the indoor work done.
Then I put them directly in front of fans for 8 hours. Then regular mesh rack drying for the next few days. I started curing the first batch today. The rest will start curing Friday.
Thanks for the details. I’m sure you will enjoy many days from your harvest
How much weight were you able to get from your first plant?
Just under 10 oz fresh cut / 3 oz and change (about 95 grams) dry
