Just planted the seedling. Out of clumsiness and stupidity, I knocked one over already. I gathered the soil but did not find the seed time will tell to see how it ended up. Next step, Sprout!
Clumsy here too! It’s the worst feeling.
Good luck with your first grow.
Thise things happen, no worries. The ones I drop on the floor usually turn out to be the strongest.
Planted all my seeds this spring, then found one seed sitting on the counter…silly.
All is working out. Fingers crossed.
Thats better than the seedling i accidently killed the other day picking it up by the stem and it snapped. Welcome to Forums
Welcome! I’ll tag along if you don’t mind
Good luck with these!
Nice to meet you and happy growing. Wishing you seed in soil luck.
We have all done it good luck with your grow
Happy growing!
5/13 Update!
I’ve got sprouts! The cold prolonged germination and sprouting by a day but all is well
The spilled pot ended up with the seed again the wall of the pot and nearly 1inch below the surface. Knowing it would have a hard time if I left it like that, I carefully dug it out with clean tweezers. I was able to pull it out fully intact and re-buried it into the center. Time will tell what happens to it
I intentionally left all pots 3/4 full with soil. As sprouts grow, I’m filling the pot up to support it
Finally got some data from soil and water
Current starting seed soil pH:6 PPM: ~200
Fox Farm Ocean Forest pH: 6.3 PPM:~500
Water from the tap pH:6
Yeow! Welcome to the world little ladies.
5/15 Week 1 update!
So far all are healthy. 2 are strong. 1 had some trouble getting it’s shell off. So it stunted the leaf growth a bit. And 1 runt of the litter. It’s still growing but falling far behind.
Regarding the spilt seed, it’s one of the healthier sprouts which is very surprising.
As for the runt, I’ve noticed the soil retains water much longer than the rest. Most times when measuring the water levels, it’s a 7/10 most times. All pots are in the same area with the same soil. So it’s very odd and could be why it’s stunting the sprouts growth.
I’m hesitant to leave them completely out in the sun for the day while I’m working. Reason 1: Animals. Reason 2: Overheating/drying out. I water them twice a day. Once around 6am and second around 5pm. I’m afraid prolonged sun as a sprout will dry it out and kill it during that period
What strains are you growin??
It’s all the same for now. Auto Fat Bastard. It’s a 50/50 strain
5/22 Week 2 Update!
So far all 4 are healthy! Each growing at their own pace. The winds have picked up a bit, so I added some bracing with some twist ties. With the leaves getting bigger but the stalk staying skinny, I’m worried it’d get bent
So far the smallest leaves out of the bunch. Seems that the chunk taken out when removing the only seed hull did effect it’s growth
Surprisingly the runt of the 4 picked up in growth. Nothing out of the ordinary
I believe I nearly decapitated this one. While moving it from under the netting, I clipped the top and bent it. Luckily some tape and a couple days straightened out again. It’s one of the stronger of the 4
Last but definitely not the least. This is the furthest along among the 4 with the largest leaves while growing the most
One more week till I transplant them into their final pots. They’re all getting about 6-8hours of the direct sunlight and hopefully more as summer goes on😁
5/29 Week 3 update!
Transplanting! All four sprouts are on their 3rd and 4th sets of leaves at this point. All are looking really healthy
Moving them over was a bit interesting. Using the Jiffy pots are nice but after 3 weeks, they are very brittle. The pots are meant to biodegrade into the transplant hole but I’m guessing the plant would eventually become root-bound.
After nearly killing one plant because I thought it would plop out like a regular plant and pot, I decided peeling the pot like a hard-boiled egg did the trick
In the pots is Fox Farm Ocean Forest with 30%perlite mixed in. All soil is ranging 6.0-6.5ph. Did a quick run off test and was around 400-600ppm. The plants are getting around 6 hours of direct sunlight. Also I started supplemental blue light when the shade covers them just for the extra boost and when the days are very overcast/rainy
5/30 evening update!
So it appears 1 of 4 is showing symptoms of Burn. But as they were just transplanted 2 days ago, I have a feeling that is expected
Since starting the supplemental light in the evening, it has drawn moths and little critters. Without a netting, it seems like pests are having their way with my plants. Probably will make or buy a bug net while light is on
Yeah, I bought crop/insect protection netting for a lot of my fruits (blueberry, raspberry, and even the smaller apple trees! I’m even going to buy a couple of sheets and cut them to fit the garden enclosure. Tired of the caterpillars in the biggest buds.
