What’s good all. I’m James. From New York. I’m doing my first ever indoor grow and I’m also growing in coco for the first time. Coco loco to be exact. I have an hlg 550 on in a 4x2x4’11 topo cheap tent . I’m gonna get the gorilla tent I think. I need more hight. Any who. I’m using fox farms nutrients almost got all of the lines so if I need anything I got it. I’m also adding recharge microbes to my water which I’m doin ph 6.0-6.5 ish. Help me out please. I have the exhaust fan going. 2 hurricane fans and my ten stays getting hot. Today it keeps to 81 when I was at work. I work long days. Sometimes I’m out the house for 14 hours smh. I’m trying to grow the best tasting and smoking weed I can possibly grow. Thanks everyone. Peace. .
Welcome to the forum!
Your light is twice what it needs to be for your tent. For now, dim it way down and raise it up. Also, low to mid 80"s is about the ideal temp for your grow. Reference vpd charts and try to keep your relative humidity in line best you can. That will keep transpiration rates up and get you best growth. Your ph is also a little high for coco. Try to keep it around 5.8 to 6.0 and I think you’ll be in pretty good shape.
Thank you very much for the input. I am aware of the light being too powerful for the tent and I already do have it dialed all the way down. Good looking on the tip about ph. I am very new to ph. I grew in super soil outdoor. Never needed ph before. Never really knew why I was doing either. Lol. Thanks again.
I would also ask how you are measuring PH? If not using a digital PH meter, you need to upgrade right now. While you are at it a TDS meter is a great idea:

Growing in coco means you are entirely supporting the plant’s needs. I strongly recommend you follow a grow schedule as precisely as possible while maintaining moderate levels of salts in your nutrients. PH 5.3 to 5.8 is ideal range for coco. Cal mag is a necessary supplement as well.
I recommend following a coco or Drain to Waste schedule until you gain more perspective on what is happening.

By the way. I love this site. It’s great. I learned soo much through out the years. I been on this site way before I started growing indoor and way before I ever signed up I been reading the awesome information of of this place and a few other key places I Ike too. Soo. Thanks to everyone out there. I gots mad love for y’all.
You guys really believe in this Apera waterproof ph tester. ??? I been double checking it with the solution it seems to be accurate ish. I wanted to know if anyone liked using any of the soul
Ph testers that you stick in the soil and leave there that don’t have batteries. Also. Why the best small oscillating fan for my tent ??? Soo many thought.
For sure.
When would be a good time to start feeding I’m in coco loco by fox farms.
A lot of us use it and like it. I have two different ones.
Soil probe testers that are less than $100 are not worth the money. Really.
Clip on fans are good, small round oscillating for some things and tower fans do a good job. Pick one?
I’ve had the apera ph20 and ph60. Both great. Zero issues. Just calibrate them every 4-6 weeks and it’s all good.
I always back up my ph machine with a reagent color test to make sure I’m close atleast with the meter
Great information thank you. I’m growing in coco loco. It has a bunch of stuff in it. All 3 still have their cotyledons fully green and attached. Not sure if I want to give nutes this early on I have only fed with water That’s been ph to 6.0 and beneficial microbes.
As long as the cotyledons are green you are doing the right thing. When you do start to feed; go light. 200 ppm? Something like that and see how it does. Small amount! You can still drown a seedling in coco until a good root system and canopy develops.
I have this other tent with soMe jungleboys seeds. Never released strain. Star dog something or another. lol. I recently it was in 24 hours of complete dark and switched the time the lights went on and off. So far no noticeable ill effects
U definitely have the light requirement for co2 to be beneficial as the plants get bigger raise the bag and you cannot exhaust the air or you will be taking our the co2 ur putting in… it’s hard to do with leds unless your able to run that light super low voltage or itll get to hot to not exhaust if you turn light up it will get hot as hell in there and the air flow will be needed if not air conditioned I no cuz I got 4x hlg 600s and the room gets hot even with a 6000btu ac…I have to put exhaust to make my ac work less
For sure. I got just the 550 in n my tent but the tent is short. I kind of feel like my tent gets a little extra hot because of that. I definitely here you on the light gets hot. It sure does. I have mine on the lowest power setting the driver goes too as I haven’t hooked up a dimmer to it yet. I have to exhaust the tent to keep my temps low in the 80s high 70s
So the co2 bag might be useless just for future reference co2 benefits are usually usually used in sealed room applications where heat isn’t an issue or you have cooled hid hoods that you can seal and e hast just the lights keeping the co2 in the tent but if u must exhaust to keep temp in check ur flushing the co2 right out the tent you might have a little elevated levels at lights on but I JUST watched a video last week explaining that it’s not good to have your plants go to bed (lights off) in a co2 enriched environment since only able to be used in photosynthesis it might build up at night cause negative effect because the plants need oxygen as well as co2
I did the co2 diy my first grow and unless u have everything else perfect co2 should be the last worry …if you raise metabolic rates with your lights intensified the water uptake the co2 uptake and the nutrient uptake all increase and cant have one present without the other t
Or it dosent work properly
