I’m new to growing and this forum. I’m on my second grow. The first one ended well but I wasnt satisfied. I battled lock-outs, nutrient burn, over waterings, under waterings, fungus gnats, you name it… But I can honestly say, all of those failures accelerated my grow knowledge and I’m thankful for them.
On to the second grow. I’ve made the switch to organic living soil (shout out to Build A Soil YT channel) and will never grow any other way. Now I get to enjoy growing, pruning, shaping my plants instead of battling issues every other day. The difference is night and day. Anyways, my girl is currently on day 20 of flower. Let me know how you think she is doing!!
Hmm, Ive read that praying leaves means the plant is happy. I dont seem to have any other signs of light stress and my ppFd is in a good range for flower. I will definitely keep an eye on that!
Yeah, I’ve gone the route of living organic soil. Once my soil had “cooked” i planted a cover crop to keep the biology alive and cut it when i planted her in there. When i defoliate I just put the trimmings back into the soil and then just keep amending the top of the soil, breaking the used nutrients back down over time.
Look at the vast majority of plants and what’s the percentage of plants with leaves like that? It’s not very high. Strong nutes can also cause that so it might be the soil causing that. Normal leaf position is horizontal not vertical
I moved lights up 1/2 inch to be safe. She seems to pray the day of/following watering and then they will level out. I also have no control over nutrients at this point unless its adding.
In my experience which isn’t much it’s signals their response to the intensity and can go either way…good or bad. I watch for adverse reactions and usually I notice an increase in resin production as a means of protection…kind of like suntan lotion. This pic above is really pushing IMO, I let mine go if their 1/2 way vertical or less
She looks outstanding! I can only hope for my first to look half as good. I’m 2 weeks in and already having over watering and gnat problems.
Got them both under control now.
Yeah, I was struggling with the fungus gnats at the end of the first grow and early on during my second. I added beneficial nematodes, some other gnat larvae eating bug and sticky traps and was able to eliminate them!
