Please help! First Time Grow Problems

Can somebody please tell me what’s going on with my plants?!?

It looks like a nitrogen deficiency, but I can’t seem to get the leafs to stop dying.

It’s slowly taking over the plant from the bottom leafs, up.

Any advice is appreciated!!

How old are your plants?
What kind of soil are you using?
Also Do you know what the PH is of your water that you water them with?
If you don’t know the PH I would recommend purchasing a PH tester and some PH up and PH down in case your PH level is off.

I see some other varieties of plants are they in the grow space as well ?

A lot of people are using Fox Farm soil so transplant them into that if you can. You will also need 3-5 gallon buckets to transplant them into later. Also a PH and TDS meter as mentioned. You can buy those at Amazon or Ebay for cheap. Also you will need stronger lights. At least 300 watts if you want any kind of yield. Happy Growing

Yes, I don’t have a lot of room to work with, so I have them in the “grow room” next to my peppers.

I’m posting a picture of the soil I’ve been using.

As far as the PH levels go, I’m not sure. I’ll have to look into buying a meter. So far, I’ve just been using regular tap water.

Thank you, Max. I appreciate the help. I’ll look into getting a stronger light, or just add to this one.

A PH meter is a MUST. These plants are really PH sensitive. Im not sure what other plants you are growing but to get any type of yield out of MJ plants you will need some good lights. You want to get 1 gram of weed per watt of light. So for example a 300 watt light should give you 300 grams per plant. This of course is under optimal conditions which is very hard to achieve. Write down what you do so you can look back and see what you did right and what you did wrong. This will help for later grows. There lots to do but everyone here is more than willing to help without criticizing. Everyone here was where you are at at one point. So don’t be afraid to ask questions. Happy Growing

Yeah I would definitely get those and some 3 gallon or 5 gallon pots buckets or smart pots and a pH meter is a must you can pick one up at a fish store or order online but make sure it’s aquarium grade or food grade almost positive your root bound but that will be fixed want to get them transplanted besides that they look great hope this helps if you need anything you can hit me up just put a @ in front of the persons name you want to get a hold of

Also when you go to transplant I would bury a good couple inches of your stem it will just make your roots stronger and will allow your plant to be able to hold up the buds that it will produce I would also put a fan on them and have them blowing around a little bit you don’t want directly on you just want them moving

Alrighty. Sometimes the soil you plant the seedlings in can have negative effects on the plant due to it having too many nutes in it but that is called out as a seed starter so I wouldn’t imagine it has a lot of nutes already in it so you should be safe with that.

You might want to get a different soil for when you transplant them into there final container. I use sunshine mix #4 but there are numerous other manufacturers you can use so really it is what is readily available to you. As @MAXHeadRoom suggested fox farm seems to be a popular soil.

Getting a PH meter will be a good start. I use tap water myself, the tap water in my area has a PH around 7.6 which is pretty high for growing cannabis so I have to lower the PH before watering. Also keep in mind that some nutrients will lower (or raise) the PH of the water to so you will want to check the PH after you add your nutes as well.

Typically you will check the PH of the water going in and also the PH of the runoff so that you can get an idea of what the PH is at the root zone. A lot of issues arrise with having incorrect PH values so a lot of issues can be avoided / solved with correcting the PH.

Your plants do look pretty healthy though so you probably aren’t that far off. Have you decided what kind of nutrients you are going to use?

Ok, guys. I appreciate everyone’s input on this. Any and all information is greatly appreciated.

I think @BIGE nailed it on this one. I’ve been treating for nitrogen deficiency, but, from what I’ve read, with the plant being root bound, it can show similar symptoms of deficiencies.

I’ll keep you guys updated on how the transplant is going.

I would take a knife and pop about 30 holes in the bottom of that you want to make sure you have really good drainage

Honestly, no. I’ve been reading up on what and how to fertilize. What would you recommend??

I’ve only used the vermicrop line. They are dry fertilizers that are applied to the soil and watered in. I top dress every other watering. I am actually going to try a wet fertilizer my next grow.

There are a lot of different nutrient lines out there. Fox Farms, Advanced Nutrients are a few lines that are used a lot. Another member in here , @latewood, recently told me he did a comparison and the nutrients that ILGM sells called Flower Power are his new favorite nutrients so I think that is what I’m going to try my next grow.

There seems to be a lot of different opinions out there.

I’ve been reading that seaweed, molasses and ph balance is a good way to go.
