Not really sure how she is doing. Is she to stringy? Planning on nutes every other watering.
L@@s good, right where she should be, happy grow
she is looking great. What kind of soil did you use? Most soils have enough food for several weeks before you feed.
They look good. I am on my first grow outside in Ohio too. Up north east of Cleveland. Good luck
A little embarrassed to say, I mixed miracle grow with a random vegetable mix. Next year I want to go with something like happy frog, but so far so good.
The soil in the other two is a bit better. The bucket is not drying fast enough. Hope the extra holes help.
You don’t have to be embarrassed. Lots of people make the same mistake. As I understand it, the problem with miracle gro soil is that it is designed to release N over about 6 months and quite a bit of it. This is generally OK for the Veg stage but can be too hot for seedlings and mid-late flower can burn your plants which can hurt your yield and quality. I would guess that effect would be less depending on how much and what soil you cut it with. It can get difficult to predict what will happen when you start mixing mediums. I would be super sparring with any N feeds. Watch for yellowing tips on the leaves, dark green almost black leaves, and clawing leaves.
When using plastic pots or buckets drainage is absolutely key. The more the better. you can even put small ones in the sides. Cannabis, and most plants for that matter, don’t like wet muddy soil. The water needs to drain through and pull fresh air into the root zone behind it. The holes will let water out of the root zone, as well as let fresh air in. That’s why the fabric pots are so great. they have millions of tiny holes all over for drainage and aeration.
So, could I use sledgehammer to flush the nutes out of the soil when I get close to flowering?
My guess would be yes, but I don’t have any first hand experience to draw from. You will probably need to flush a few times anyway if you are using FF nutes. I see a lot of people say they leave a lot of salt buildup in the soil. I used them in one grow and had no issues with that.
I am going for a minimalist approach until flowering. I have only added nutes the this one full dose at 16 days, I may add one more dose at 30 days, then flush again. I am watching for discoloration and or curling. I am very new
