Doing my first grow, and I have these crystals all over my fans, they are very brittle and break into smaller pieces when I touch them.
Is this mold or calcium from my humidifer building up on items in the tent?

Are you using an ultrasonic humidifier with tap water?
I am using the humidier in the link below, and I am using tap water to fill it.
It is mineral dust from the tap water. Use distilled or RO water in it to avoid the mineral dust.
The issue I may run into is I put about 10 gallons of water a day in my hunmidifer. So tap was much easier.
Could I run a hose threw the link below to remove the minerals? Instead of getting gallons of distilled water?

An RO system will be expensive and more effective.
Thank you, I’ll look into it.
And off topic question do you provid consultations to growers via text/calls?
There is a very nice collection of experienced growers here in the forum to help you along the way. Start a post and use it as a journal for your grow and you will get all the help you need.
Thank you, was worried it was mold and was about to bleach everything in the room. I’ll start looking into an RO system.
Do you use th RO for the reservoir water as well?
Your water hardness is probably pretty bad with a mineral buildup that bad. How long have you been running the humidifier for the buildup to occur? Do you know the PPM of your tap water?
The city I love in SoCal is know to have hard water since they get it from a well apparently. This is my first grow and it has only been on for about 4 weeks. The humidifer it self is almost on all the time since its really dry here in SoCal + the minisplit in the tent is drives my levels WAY down the moment it turns on. I fill it with about 10 gallons of water everyday.
The ppm of the tap water is is 343
I have been using the tap water for both the humidifier and the res water.
Okay. 343 isn’t all that bad, but if you are having these problems I would switch to RO. I use a 3 gallon RO system, but I am a soil grower and only run one plant at a time so it’s sufficient for my needs. I would switch to a larger RO system.
We have several hydro growers around who may come along to give you more specific advice.
