CBN is responsible for the amber in trichomes. Growers should keep in mind that THC continues to oxidize into CBN even after harvest. As an example, if you harvest at 10% amber, then several months later it is likely that your harvest will have a greater percentage of CBN. After a year of storage there will be a significant CBN content in your weed even if you’ve harvested with no amber due to the oxidation of THC into CBN. The conversion is THCa to THC to CBN post-harvest.
The oxidation process during storage can be aborted with O2 packs which eliminate oxygen from your storage jars (or other storage means.)
morning Midwest… I did not know this… I know my buds get their peak about 6 months into the cure and I have found they do have more of a body effect…I harvest at cloudy with specs of amber here and there…
Dunno, but Grove Bags are a pretty good storage system. I’m not sure that you could do better. Oxidation of THCa → THC → CBN is still an issue with Grove Bags. It’s basically a greatly slowed decarboxylation process given the presence of oxygen.
I’ve got some 9 mth old cured GSCE that’s been in grove bags the aroma has changed incredibly for the better. Potency is absolutely phenomenal. Such a great strain
My flowers don’t increase in potency as they cure…I’ve tested my buds at harvest and at various stages of cure, and long term storage.
Potency doesn’t really change…in fact it drops slightly over time.
What does happen however, is that perceived potency is “much enhanced” likely because the look, aroma, and flavor 9f the organic material has improved drammatically via cure.
