Just a question popped in my head: do the trichomes mature/change after chop?
When people buy weed and make their assessment wheater they like the effects or not, can they still check the harvest ripeness from those buds?
This not the case for me but I just got curious.

They do. So long as oxygen is present in storage THC will continue to slowly oxidize into CBN. CBN is the cannabinoid responsible for the ambering of trichomes and the “sleepy,” “couch-lock” effect.

This is bud from October 2023 been stored in grove bags in my garage refrigerator. I pulled it out a month ago and took these trichome pictures before I smoked it. I wanted to see if I could see trichome degradation.
