I’ve posted this before but it is worth mentioning again in the wider forum since we had a question about this yesterday and it comes up occasionally.
THC converts to the cannabinoid CBN over time reducing THC potency and making your stored weed more “sleepy.” CBN is the sleep inducing, couch lock effect cannabinoid. The only way to mitigate it is to prevent the oxidation of THC into CBN with something that depletes the oxygen in your sealed storage container.
You can use these during storage to help prevent the conversion of THC into CBN.
I go for a lot of amber since I only smoke as a sleep aid. The amber is actually CBN. I take 2-3 hits every evening. It absolutely smokes me. I suppose it is down to our individual perceptions of what it means to be F’ed up in the way that we enjoy. A clear trichome sativa buzz is definitely different than an indica harvested with a lot of amber.
Speaking of 2 to 3 hits. I’m an old dude. We walked the neighborhoods back in the 70’s and smoked weak, seeded Mexican all day every day. It’s a different time now. It was no problem smoking a whole joint every hour by yourself back then. If I did that now I would be in a coma. lol.
LOL I agree 2/3 hits per hour and I’m fine on the chit I’m growing right now. Any more and it nite nite. Maybe I’ve become a wimp…don’t know don’t care! LOL
It’s an incredible sleep aid. I do 2-3 hits before bed and I’m asleep in minutes. If I wake up in the middle of the night, I take a long hit off a cart and I’m right back asleep.
The downside is that if you stop smoking you are going to have a really hard time sleeping at all for a handful of days. I stopped 6 weeks out for an employment screening a few years ago and it took me a good week to get good sleep again following quitting cold turkey.
You’re not a wimp, you’re just growing some good buds. Thats how I judge my grows. After 2 weeks of curing, I clean my bowl, grind a small popcorn bud and check the smell. Pack the bowl and take 2 hits. If I’m high, I’m happy.
Yep, I tried quitting weed December 2008 after my promotion. Did not sleep. Ended up at the doctors after a blood test and he wondered what was going on with my liver numbers. Told him I was quitting weed but was drinking myself to sleep. He told me to quit drinking and go back to smoking!
