I would start by measuring inside of your tent and make sure you’ll get the 560mm strips to fit. Consider your design for frame and what the overall size of light will be and that with exhaust running it will probably pull tent walls in.
560mm is only 22inches. If I use the heatsinks and 2 pieces of aluminum should have 2inches each side extra
2’ is 24" using a 22" strip will have 1" on each side. To be honest, my experience with measuring inside of tents is that they are often different than advertised. Then taking exhaust into consideration 560mm strip is often too big for a 2x2 tent. I just want you to be sure it’s a good fit and won’t be tearing your tent walls.
I got screwed with the tent kit I bought. Only ever got the tent. So for exhausted and intake I’m using a box fan with plant lifted 12in off the ground.
I’m a complete noob to lighting and building them.
I just want the max coverage and highest watts I can run in this tent.
Ps don’t mind the ropes they a very crude trellis net I’m working on still lol
You are probably underestimating what a 12"x12" light would do in a 24"x24" grow space. It seems small, but there would only be 6" of gap around perimeter of light. A single qb kit is like 12"x7" and is pretty much the standard for a 2x2 tent.
If you want better than using 280mm strips, check eb gen 3 slim line. The short strip here is 340mm, which gives you 13.4" and you could arrange to be something like 13.5"x18" fixture.
Digikey has 340 slim in 3500k in stock. If you want to use hlg-120h-700 you could fit 18 of them on driver. Buying 18 strips and heatsinks is going to severely increase your build cost though.
As I said I am trying to get a plan together of materials I’m going to need. I’m currently out of work due to getting hurt. But here is my total end goal I want the PPFD map an power to do 2 plants in 2x2x5ft tent or one giant photoperiod. I’m not sure exactly what I need just thought around 300true watts for that map. I am all for every bit of help I can get to accomplish this task. Again it’s no rush right now.
Hopefully you’re squared away and back to work soon. If using good components a 250-300 watt light is what you would build for a 3x3, which is over 2x the size of a 2x2.
I agree that if you could get to a light that was roughly 18"x18" would be most ideal. But you’re probably going to have make some concessions between building a perfect light and spending an unreasonable amount of money. A refurbished hlg-200 is $199 or $180 with current 10% off code. So I wouldn’t spend anymore than that to build your light.
Ok thank you for the information. Will have to look up them lights!
Happy bday! ![]()

thank you very much ![]()
Gonna throw this out there.
I have 2 sayhon sh2000 and 1 sh1000 in a 2x3 for a total of 500 true watts. In a 2x3.
Dimensions are 23x11.8 inches. Two would fix in a 2x2 for a total of 400 true watts. Price is 138 apiece. 276 for 2.
Not 100% sure of your goal but thought I would mention it.
I also have 3 in a 28x55x80. If I went with single lights that have more wattage I could not get as many watts in tent. Example a sh4000 is to big to fit 2 in there. Actually going to remeasure in the morning again. If I can get 800 watts in there that would be great. Huh wasn’t even going to mention this tent glad I did now. Wifes going to hurt me. Sometimes it’s good to think outloud.
Do you have a “?” About it?
I am not clicking that. That light is nearly $600 I’d say without a doubt it’s some sort of scam.
Costco wholesale website.
There is no way that’s real. lol it would cost way more to make the thing
That’s what I was thinking also.
Thank you for confirming my suspicion
But Costco is reputable you sure that’s the actual site? Mind boggling
Was a redirect as soon as you click buy now to another site not affiliated with Costco … You were right. @Low thanks for the rapid reply.
