This one’s just planning for the future.
I was wanting to use some coco, worm castings, and perlite for sure but if you guys could help me figure out how much and if there is anything else I could add in to make it an even better mix I’m down to take advice.
Btw wanting to do a dry amendments run when I do this experimental run.
I haven’t been able to look into it too much but I’m open to suggestions if you know of any that are preferable or ones to stay away from. Always ready for someone to information dump too. Love learning
I have cooked my own soil (6 months) in the past and used cover crops, i have also used a few liquid nutes such has humbolts, but i always have gone back to Coast of Maine. They have a pretty hefty line of dry amendments and supplements. I have only used their stonington blend veg food and buds n bloom flower food. I also use worm castings, but most of the time im using them for teas. Another source of dry amendments you could look into is from roadside organics in OK. Do a search on Google and youll find his site. I try not to promote on this forum but what works for me might work for you also. Keep in mind this is dry amendments only. I havent tried the coco route with dry amemdments, but have seen plenty of folks who have had very successful grows using this method. @Roadsideorganics.ok
Here is my last harvest minus some (i got greedy and already started pressing)
There is a tremendous amount of things that are needed to build a good cannabis soil. Garrigan is no longer with us but this is his recipe for building a good super soil. I highly recommend reading it:
I will definitely give it a look over and see how I feel about it. Especially if it’s a passed down recipe. Gotta honor something like that and at least give it a try ya know?
This is exactly the mix i made last year. I just had to scale it down.
I made 100 gallons. I let it cook 6 months.
i will add… if you plan to make your own soil, do it indoors and allow it to cook indoors if you plan on using it for indoor grows. You get unwanted squatters
I ran a few autos Full Term with this mix in 10 gallon containers and also a few photos in 25 gallon containers with 8 week veg time.
I plan on eventually doing 2-4 photos in a 15-25 gallon pot and want to get them the best start possible. Trellis them out and do an extended veg. Was thinking 4 -6 months. Then flower. Just to see how everything works out.
Not sure which strains yet.
Definitely plan on using this recipe though for real
Hey I’m just budding in here
I’m going through what you planning to do in a way.
I did Coco hydro first time around successfully. Now I’m doing full organic. I used Coco loco as base and nature’s living soil amendment. I also included other amendments. Let it all sit for 2 weeks and the girls are healthy so far. Remember organics is about microbes in soil. Got a horde of microbes plants will be healthy.
That’s all I know. I’m a newbie pretty much
Back to Coco,.I have a couple bricks in closet and I’m going to use it as a base and will let you know how it goes.
The flowering are my first organic grow, second pic is current organic grow.
Flowering ones had multiple deficiencies the whole way. I had no idea what I was doing until coming here and bud brother guided me.
I appreciate ya letting me know how the coco mix goes. I’m fairly new myself as well but I try to watch a video or two everyday about something I don’t know. If I can’t I rewatch a good educational video I liked to refresh.
Hey! Your choice of coco, worm castings, and perlite sounds like a great foundation for a healthy growing medium. For a balanced mix, consider using about 50% coco, 30% worm castings, and 20% perlite. You might also want to add some compost for added nutrients and beneficial microorganisms, or a slow-release organic fertilizer to enhance the nutrient profile. Remember to monitor pH levels and moisture retention as you experiment with dry amendments; it can really optimize your results!
I tried it, I transplanted into a quality living soil. Didn’t like it, maybe I had too much Coco.
Coco hates water and it’s hard to keep the medium moist.
Great on its own with nutes but not so much a medium base for living soil.
