Looking for a lot of help

Hi, I’m a 62 year old woman with a sick husband (although nothing effects him having a joint ), and I am getting nervous about how we will be able to continue to purchase our smoke, both financially and having to go out to collect it so I have decided I’m going to grow it . I know nothing about it and I was hoping I could get some help on here. I have read and watched thousands of hours of information on indoor growing. A lot of it is conflicting and confusing but I have a basic grasp. My main concern is stealth, I need to hear or see nothing as I will be growing in a cupboard in my utility room, 2ftx2ftx6ft. I have complied a list of what I think I will need and I would be very grateful if somebody could check it over and see if I have missed or don’t need any items

A grow space
Mylar for reflection
Light (I really want to do LED)
Exhaust fan (preferably silent)
Carbon filter
Ducting
Rotating fan
Ph meter
Ph adjusting solution
Nutrients
Temp reader
Heater
All the growing bits, soil, seeds etc.
Possibly some way of sound proofing

Your list looks good to me.
And welcome to the community
Only 2 quick tip I got for your list is definitely go led lighting. In a small space led produces the least heat. Stay away from the blue and red (aka blurple led lights).
Dont get tricked bu cheaper led companies that claim a 2x2 light is “1000 watts” when its actually only 100 watts power draw…
If you find a light you’re thinking about, make a post here before you purchase and we will help make sure you get what you need

And for reflective surface, just get ya some flat white paint. No gloss, just flat or matte white.
Its over 90% reflective and just as good as any mylar and much easier and cheaper…

You will find that information is conflicting, and truth is, there’s so many techniques that work for some and not others, and so many different styles of growing.

But all only require basic simple things.
Creat a good environment, proper water and nutrients.
And try not to micro manage. Get them set up and leave them alone :rofl: .
Give them proper environment water and nutrients and let them do there thing…

My strongest recommendation generally for this would be to get an AC Infinity tent and their inline duct fan. The AC infinity fans are smooth and almost completely noiseless. My bathroom vent fan is about 50x louder than my 6” AC Infinity fan.

A good carbon filter will help combat odor - I have only ever used cheap ones off Amazon and have never had a complaint from my neighbors (I grow 12 plants at a time in a 9x8 room).

Horticulture Lighting Group - best for the $
Green Beams (green-beams(dot)com) will be a close second to HLG for a fraction of the $
ChilLED Tech is going to be the best in terms of running cool temperatures - good for confined spaces.

I highly suggest a BlueLabs dual meter - one that can can do the PPM/TDS reading and the pH. It will be $150 or something like that but you won’t need to replace it for a long time, and it’s reliable.

More affordable alternatives are Apera pH meters and a cheap cheap ppm reader off Amazon.

Jack’s 3-2-1 is by far the most economic and simplest to use.
Real Growers’ Grow Dots are becoming my second favorite because it’s just miracle grow for cannabis.

The light is the most important purchase you will make for a 2x2 space I would suggest a HLG 200 great value for the money as the others have suggested AC infinity makes some of the best and quietest fans and grow dots are a newbies best friend

Thanks for all that advice. The tent would have to go inside my cupboard as that is the only suitable space I have.

I will also have to buy within the EU so as not to incur duty, as far as I know

So i don’t know alot about that light company but i noticed the link was in EUR.
239EUR is about 250US.
And this light here if available for the $250US wherever you are, is outstanding in comparison.
Newer Samsung lm301b dios and a good driver.

I believe you have access to Spiderfarmer and - I am hesitant to suggest it because I get flack for it, but - KingBrite. You can find Shenzhen KingBrite on Alibaba. They often have duty free lights listed - I’ve seen many for the EU and USA even though they’re China based. They accomplish that by doing one massive import of the most popular lighting styles and then reselling with the customs and duties already built into the price. I personally have and use 2 of their 240w lights - I just searched for “US” and found lights that were free of import costs. You can likely do the same with “EU”

Way to give it a go Cosmos!!
I am new to indoor on my first crop now. Just hitting 4th week of flower.

LED seems like your call. Working well for me. 1 to 2 k if getting 2k make sue adjustable. I have a Vivosun 2k and spider farmer 4K. Both out of very little heat.
I think you will do well with your list.

You may have high humidity in flower stage it is a concern. Depends on your home and climate. You will need to keep that down and good air circulation.
I am running a dehumidifier outside my tent to keep it under control.

Folks on here are super helpful
Best of luck

You will also want a PPM/EC tester, unless the pH meter is a combo that does that as well.

@Cosmos1 Welcome. You may want to consider the (stealth) configuration of light / exhaust / filter, inside (taking head space) or outside the grow cabinet visible. This will effect your other choices like light type and size and space for your circulation fan(s). These Cloudline fans are amazingly quiet, but along with a carbon filter, not small relative to your caminet space.

@Cosmos1 , Here is a 2x2x3 grow tent setup with one 65w. Led panel that yielded, I think @4 oz. from Grow Weed Easy.

Powerful grow lights are fantastic for filling grow space, and competing for bud of the month. But, with a stealth prerequisite and limited space you don’t want to be frantically trying to keep your plants down away from those lights to prevent damage.

Oh wow, thank you all for your input. I’m overwhelmed. I have read everything in detail and need to get serious now. I have a little windfall coming in about 4 weeks and I would like to be ready with my list to just go shopping . I have checked out duty charges all over the place. I’m in Ireland and any country outside the EU will cost a fortune in charges, this includes the UK since Brexit. Ireland prices are off the wall.
My grow space will be exactly 24x24x90 so ye I would need to decide if the fan and filter are going outside. Is the space big enough to have it inside? I have a space I could use to put it outside if I have to.

I’m delighted to hear I can paint flat white instead of buying Mylar.

I thought you had to buy in bulk from Alibaba. I’ll have a good root on there now.

I didn’t think about humidity. My cupboard is beside the back door so I’m hoping I can use it for some sort of control. I also have a window in the room and I was thinking I could cut a hole in the glass and run the ducting out through it. It would just look like my tumble dryer ducting.

So do ye think my grow space suitable? Will I fit the fan and filter inside? How do I calculate the fan and light sizes for that space?

Thank ye all so much

24 x 24 is I bit small for my needs but you can grow one in there for sure.

May be an ideal space for auto flower, not from experience but just my thought. Never did an auto indoor but the outside ones I did seem proper for that size

Light would be ok at 1000k led no real need for more in 2 x 2 IMO
Led for heat issues is the way in that space as well

Attach an oscillating fan above the canopy.

Probably get away wit 4” exhaust in that small space.
Get a fan with temp and humidity meter control automatically. Set your limits and it does the work Helps you monitor your environment.
Put the sensor at even height with canopy to read the zone you want most accurate.
In line fan can (should)be outside grow box. Reduce heat save space. Filter in top of box and fan outside venting to attic or outside the house.

Cool part is the sprout and veg time gives you some time to dial in your system before the flowers come and things get crucial.

Best of luck!!
