I am currently running light at 24” @ 50% .
Light has been on 24/7 to assist keeping temps where I want without supplement heat
Is it advisable to continue the 24/7 schedule for a week or so before adjusting to 18/6?
I’m hoping as ambient temps continue to rise I can avoid supplying heat beyond what is produced by light.
Or, is it more productive to get the 18/6 schedule in effect out of the blocks?
Sounds like a great start. You can absolutely run 24/0 for now. There’s plenty of growers that run autos on 24/0 for the entire cycle. I personally start most grows under 24/0 to keep temps good then switch to 18/6 like you plan to after a week or 2 since sprout.
Thanks for your input. I know some use 24/7 throughout, but I wasn’t sure if there was a time in the growth cycle when any kind of light change might be a problem. As the ambient temps rise I’ll need the dark period as much as I need the light/heat now. Thanks again!
I started my current indoor grow on 1/29/22. I ran 24/0 for the first 2 weeks above “dirt” (I grow photoperiod plants in coco) and switched to 18/6 without any real issues. Slow growth for the first few days after changing but that was because my temps were a little low. Now I’m in week 2 of flower and they’re not slow anymore. lol.
I run my lights 24hrs when in seedling stage, only thing that jumps out at me that will speed up the seedling growth is raise RH way up. If you had a clear dome to put over them its easy to control RH under a dome. I keep mine over 75%RH while in seedling stage.
Here’s 3 i dropped a couple days ago, they haven’t sprouted yet but you can see my Temps and RH.
Agreed. I plan to increase RH to around 60-70%. I have just been waiting for girls to break ground. Figured it wasn’t necessary while germinating. I plan to give 1st watering tomorrow. I’ll include more humidity as well.

Somebody on this forum told to take empty water bottles cut the top off to make domes for seedlings once plants start touching sides then take domes off. Also take mist bottle and spary inside domes this will get your humidity up for seedlings

We dont wind up asking you the same questions all over again like what dirt, or how much light. Simply tag the people you want to chime in and all will be shiny. Some like myself look for new posts to answer questions so any new comments in your thread will move it to the top of the “Latest” page.

I actually have a seed starter tray with dome that I used on a previous grow. I decided to follow some growing tips from a forum member who recommends not covering them. His success is undeniable so I figured i’d give it a go.
I’ll def keep a close eye on that, tho

Its something that works either way. I cover them for a couple days and then let them go.
Roots grow incredibly fast and as long as the dirt is not bone dry they will be ok. In nature they dont get domes so I see his point.
Love this idea, and yeah I’ve found that by keeping my RH super high, i basically never have to water them as seedlings.
I mist them from time to time is about it while in the dome.
I appreciate your input. Yea, I think right now just 5 days in the moisture level of the soil is most critical. As the girls transition from sprouts to seedlings their climate needs will shift. All good information. Thank you again!
Different things work for different people and im definitely not saying this grower is wrong, but its definitely not the “norm” for an experienced grower to not dome them, any kind of propagation is best under a “propagation” dome
