Should i change lights to some type of dark rest or is it ok to run them throughout in my veg tent. 1st sign of pistols just popped yesturday.
Some do I believe in a rest period, @beardless is more experienced and may have a different opinion let’s see. Or @Covertgrower where do you stand on auto flower light schedule, if you have any questions tag covert he just got promoted to mentor gotta put him to work.
My preference is they should still get a break. It also doesn’t make financial sense to have a light on 24/0. 12/12, or 18/6 is what I recommend.
Side note, I have seen many people with the 24/0 schedule, when they use this schedule, when it comes to flowering, I’ve seen some hang ups where they don’t really flower when they’re supposed to. So to safeguard from this, I would go with 12/12 minimum to get flowering started.
I’m not suggesting there’s ALWAYS an issue, just something to be aware of.
@Covertgrower it just showed pistols can i wait a week get the final growth then switch. Thats my plan? 20 on 4 off
When you change the schedule doesn’t matter to the plant. Just change it. I would go 18/6 if that’s what you choose to change it.
I run on 18/6 unless I mix in photos then we’ll it’s whatever they are on
I have always ran my veg room consistently 24/7. @Covertgrower so i just gotta pay attention to see if its totally in bloom if i decide to keep under 24hrs?
What you should watch for, is if it starts to get too large for the space, and you need it to flower it isn’t. I would change the light schedule 12/12 to initiate flowering.
I grow my autos under 18/6 with my photos till time to flip photos then they get 12/12 light schedule to finish up. I think they do great. happy growing .
Lighting timer will depend on lighting strength, learn how to calculate your average lux into pffd which will go into a DLI calculator and then you can adjust your lighting to ensure you are least giving a 4hr break to autos while still getting the correct amount of light.
If you can increase the strength enough to keep high DLI but still do 16/8 or 12/12 then by all means but you need to know how much light your plants are truly getting in a 24hr period to gauge this all.
Worst case set it to 20/4 watch for calcium deficiencys
