Going to be planting my first outdoor plants this week! Any advice? Be growing in my garden in the UK. Also. Let’s see those outdoor plants !!
I’ve seen some stunning pics of outdoor plants here, so you should get some good ones.

Pest control. Stay vigilant and perform routine maintenance. I had to put mine in a large dog cage because, ironically enough, my large dog, ate an entire month old plant
I’ll have 7 plants, 6 strains outside in the next couple of weeks. Just a couple shots I already had. It’s still dark here, or I’d go get more…
@Se7en Can’t wait yo see what you got brewing over there across the pond lol!! I’m a few weeks out on moving my seedlings outside as well. Hopefully we both get ideal summers. !
Here are my two, hanging out with the tomatoes and peppers. It will be another week or two before I can get them into the ground (temps and hours of light). When it is cloudy and cool, like today, they are indoors under some lights. When it is nicer outside, they go into the little greenhouse for the day. These were started in soil and broke ground on 4/1.
@stockdogranch looking good, your ready to roll!
@Fieldofdreams Thanks! I’m getting anxious. If only the stupid weather would cooperate!
What @Borderryan22 said. Vigilant maintenance, Check for bugs and problems daily. Make sure once they begin too bud, you have a way to keep the rain off them. I threw away nearly a pound last year because mold/bud rot. I will start spraying Spinosad monthly starting next week unless the bugs appear sooner.
Only other advice, get out of UK. It sounds like a lot of hassle there.
@VF plants are looking sweet and dark green! Ready to rock!
Hahaha !! I feel this pain and I’ve already ordered some picket fencing to fence off my little patch ![]()
As this demon canine loves plants let alone weed and then let alone WEED PLANTS
Yeah one thing that is worrying me is the rain during flower, if I start them outside, when they get into flower can I finish them inside under lights if I keep them pots? Or do you think that would ruin the growth
Love northern lights! Such a old school strain
I love how similar they look to tomato plants at first ![]()
I’ve only got a couple grows in the last ten years, all outdoors. But defiantly don’t want rain on your buds toward the end.
As for the indoor outdoor light switching Id ask @Borderryan22 or @Graysin.
I like outside for autos, because they don’t need a required light schedule. I’ve been starting autos inside in solo cups, and after 2-3 weeks, I transplant and put them outside. As long as it isn’t too cold and they get ENOUGH light, they’re ok.
But to answer the question, I don’t have one lol. Indoors, the grower controls almost every single variable, outdoors, nature has a much bigger part, and I firmly believe natural sunlight and a good soak of rain water every now and then does wonders. My 2nd plant, last year, outside had a main cola almost as big as a 2 liter soda bottle.
@Borderryan22 And you didn’t worry about the buds getting rained on? Maybe I’m reading too much now and worrying about too many things!
That was and still can be most growers and my problem lol. The mornings after it rains, the girls perk up and shine. You can tap the stems and knock off some water. It’s usually breezy at the least where I live, so they get air movement. It’s actually been a constant 15mph here the last week, with 20-40mph gusts, and afternoon popup storms. I can move them if I absolutely have to.
Thanks! I wasn’t planning on making mine “moveable,” as they’ll be in the ground amongst the tomatoes. My original plan was to get 'em in the ground with the tomatoes and let 'em do their thing, same as the tomatoes do. I guess I’ll find out. I guess if we have a really heavy rain coming when they are flowering I can rig something to give them some cover.
